Hey everyone!
I recently fired a TC Encore at my local range. The accuracy was truely outstanding with one I fired (.7mm Rem Magnum).5 +/-
And in the .270 win (the owner shot) it was not nearly as good! +/-2 inches. He said it's the best he could get it to shoot.
I was just wondering, how does everyones encores shoot? These were the first I had fired and in all honesty it held really really well. These both at VX3 leupolds on them.
Ammo was some hand loaded, and factory federal TSX's in various weights for each.
My triumph shoots well, was just wondering how everyones encores worked for them.
Are they known to be accurate?

I had a T/C Prohunter in 308 - it was acceptably accurate with just about any load (around 1.5"). It shot 150 Accubonds under an inch. I considered it an accurate rifle.

My .25-06 pro hunter would shoot .750" or better with factory ammo.

FMP, Ive had an Encore for about 10 years now. The first barrel I got as a .45 cal muzzleloader and it has never shot than 1.5 2 inches. The second barrel I got as a .223 heavy varmint barrel and it shoots sub-MOA with most 50-55 grain factory ammo and .5 inch groups with handloads. The third barrel is a .308 Win and it shoots .75 inch groups with most 150 grain factory ammo and .5 inch groups with handloads. With Federal HV and Hornady LM ammo the groups open up to 1.5 inches. Most 165 grain factory ammo shot just over 1 inch groups and .75 inch groups with handloads. Here again with Federal HV and Hornady LM ammo the groups open up to over 1.5 inches. So, Im very happy with the accuracy of my Encore.

My 25-06 Encore does about 2"-2.5" with most any handload when I'm not touching the lands. I have to smash 100gr BT's into the rifleing to get "moa" out of it. I think an oversized pin will help but haven't tried it yet.
In my opinion they are "usually" a little more finicky then a bolt gun to make shoot.

cole, I like your tag line. It reminds me of when I was a kid. My friends and I would go woodchuck hunting armed with .22's. At first they open sight single shots, but we gaduated soon to scoped repeaters. Our point was to see how close we could get to the chucks before shooting. Taught us a lot. Some folks today just don't know.

It seems the encores I shot were about par for the course. Plenty accurate for any hunting circumstances EVER.

My 209x50 barrel will shoot around 1.25-1.50" for three shots with its best load. I have a .22-250 heavy barrel that is amazing! It will shoot between .25-.50" with a number of powder-bullet combinations. All that with just a 3-9 Leupold Rifleman scope. Will

Parka,
Do a search on Bellm TC's(Mike Bellm). He's the TC guru. Some interesting reading. I've got a 20 guage slug gun, (among others) that shoots 1-1/2" at 100 all day long. What's not to like?...............Al
I should have just bought a [bleep] T3...

I did a little experiment with my TC Encore in 25-06 compairing neck sizing to full length sizing.
I used Remington brass, CCI Large Rifle primers, and 117 gr Sierra GameKing bullets. The load that showed the most promise is the max load (according to Sierra Manual 5th Edition) of 50.5 gr Reloader 22. The bullets were seatedH with a C.O.A.L. of 3.15" (.005 off the lands)however I was only getting 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 100 yds (This was with neck sized brass).
I performed an experiment testing bullet seating depth and neck size brass vs full length sized brass.
I loaded this exact same load (50.5 gr Reloader 22) but seated the bullet to the C.O.A.L. listed in the Sierra Manual of 3.13".
Half of the rounds comprised of brass that was neck sized only (Lee Collet Neck Die) and the other half that were full length sized (Lee Full Length Die).
Target distance is 100 yds.
The results:
Neck sizing only rounds grouped 2 inches
The rounds that were Full Length sized gave a very nice .730 inches (outside to outside measurment) or .730 - .257 =.473 (center to center) group.
Just some food for thought.

I have an Encore with two Shilen Match Grade barrels. One in 7 Wby and the other in 300 Wby.
The Encore is not without its quirks but it is a fine rifle in my opinion. I have hunted with mine since 1991 and my receiver is a very very VERY low serial number, 092. It has been in horrible weather so many times I can't count and it still looks brand new. It is blued and the barrels are stainless. Both shoot well under 1/2" with three shots.
This is one rifle package I would never part with.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

Got an Encore muzzleloader. Thinking about getting a 7mm-08 barrel for my son to use.

never understood why anyone would want one for anything but a muzzleloader In 2006, centerfire Encore and Pro Hunter sales surpassed muzzleloading Encore sales for the first time. Somebody in shooting them. Doc
