I'm taking a 1955 F in the .300 Savage. Luepold 1-piece base with Luepold double extension rings on a VX1 2X7X33. First year with it. It will feel different for sure as I've carried a 54 EG since I was 16.

Hey All:
Been using a rifle my deer old Dad gave me and it's been very useful...1941 .300 Savage EG. Sighted it in recently and put a group of shots together from 50 yards. Longest shot where I hunt in WI is maybe 125 yards..too much brush and trees. Think I've taken about 13 deer, most of them at about 50 to 80 yards. Can't wait!
Take care and good luck and be safe!

I'll be using a 1951 EG in .250-3000 with a Lyman peep sight (the rifle is not tapped for scope mounts) and my handloads of 87-grain Speer spitzers. Also, a 1966 F in .358 with 180-grain Speer FNs and a Lyman 57SB peep. I hunt in places where the range is close, so don't really need a scope.

308 F lyman 2.5 (but looking hard at the VX-1 2-7x33) unless my 250-3000 shows up in time to get sited in. Got a 300 EG that I was thinking of throwing a Lyman 2.5 on and taking for "back-up" or for any hunting after a first kill.

Was lucky enough to fill both my buck tags.Shot this broken horned buck opening day with my 1899 250-3000. Shot this 24" 4-point on the last week of season with my pre-64 Winchester 264 mag at 250 yards.

Wow! I guess I'm retiring to the wrong end of California!
Those are blacktail - right? Never hunted them when I lived there; was to caught up in fishing. Might have to reset my priorities...

Lets see, what did I choose this year! Kimber 84M .257 Roberts Savage 99F 250-3000 Savage 1899 Short Rifle 38-55 Savage 99F .303 Sav. Will try to kill 3 deer between PA. and MD. but I will probably get SKUNKED!

Was hoping to take my 99EG and 99E, .300 Sav. and .308 Win. respectively, but back-to-back surgeries for my wife and I prevented me from sighting them in in time for opening day, this Saturday. So, I'll go with a Winchester 88, .308 Win. and a Rem. Model 7, stainless synthetic, 7mm-08.

I will be carrying my 99 early E in .303. I just got back from a few days hunting in the Adirondacks and was very happy with how it carried. A friend missed one in the thick stuff. Our last day to hunt it finally cooled down, and snowed. My nephew got on the track of one early and dogged him a good part of the day before giving up. That buck was hunting for a girl and wouldn't slow down. At one point I was posted at the inlet to a beaver pond and the buck crossed at the dam. Invisible to me due to all the snow clinging to the trees. Maybe next time!

I haven't hunted in over 30 years, but this year I'll be going out with my father-in-law with my 99E in .308 Win. I'll also be carrying a S&W Model 25-5 (8-3/8" barrel) in .45 Colt in a Lou Alessi shoulder rig.
Depending on the range I just might have to set aside the Model 99 and take a shot with the revolver! I love those sights!
Yes!

hunting starts saturday for me...I will be taking my 99C in .243 for sure...the 308 F did not perform for me at the range (I am not blaing the rifle...yet) I am going to grab it and my brand new leupold scope tomorrow and if time permits and I can sneak to the range early (oh its going ot be a real mess there tomorrow) I may try it again and if all goes well it will be my go-to gun....either way I am shooting a 99 for sure...
