Anything including and between the 250 Savage and the 375H&H.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

well, yeah.....I mean, whitetails die easy, kind of boils down to what you like to carry and shoot.

#1 .243 #2 .308 #3 As has been mentioned...any .223+ caliber with appropriate bullet will effectively take whitetails.

The 280 Remington is overbore.

DB: On my 3 cartridge choice? or on the 270,270,270? The 7-08 has always been a bit of a favorite of mine;it's the only 308-based round I have ever had the slightest interest in,mostly because it gives 7x57 ballistics(handloaded) in a modern package.I have never loaded anything in it but 130 and 140 gr bullets.Lets the air outta these New England whitetails pretty quick I have Kimber Montana 7/08 on layaway, but don't tell anybody
