hello campfire beer enthusiasts. i have been thinking about something that was making me very thirsty at work all day. care to guess?

thats right. BEER!!!!

now as i am sure you are all aware, we all have our favorites, and we all think that our favs are the best.

now then, since we all have our personal favorites, but they are not all available in all areas, i thought we might make a beer exchange thread.

i personally hear a lot of good things about Shiner Bock, but from the 8 stores i went to yesterday, i cant find it anywhere. i would love to try it if anyone wants to trade a beer for a beer. i personally like Rogue Dead Guy, and Arrogant Bastard Ale. they are my favorites, and are very good darker beers.

so, what do you think guys and gals? wanna trade?

here's the list of beers, and what they are like.

Rogue Dead Guy. ale, darker in color with a strong flavor. good stuff.

Arrogant Bastard. ale as well. also darker with strong flavors, and a smooth finish.

Shiner is ok. You'd have to go a little south to find it in stores though.

Shipping the beer ... would have to be packed carefully, and it would likely get rather shaken up, not to mention cost. Thankfully, I have a broad selection available to me where I live smile .

i would send one to you Gringo Loco. i have a great selection as well, but i wanna think outside of town a bit, and this seemed like a fun way to do that.

You know, a bit of a beer discussion went on in Mule Deer's thread about Eileen's cookbook. Guys ended up mentioning some of their favorite beers. Seems like, first off, a list of beers considered worthy would need to be mentioned as people chime in. And then you, could check in from time to time, and copy those into your original post via editing to update a beer list. It gets cumbersome chasing through an entire thread to find something. Each beer could have a short description. Then folks could refer to the list and if they decided to do an exchange, work it like the bullet exchange in the reloading forum. I do wonder, though, if a shook up beer might not be compromised to the point that it gives a false impression. Just the list alone might be useful though. It's a thought.

Here is one I found off that thread I spoke of:

It came from Ceske Budejovice, known in nearby Germany as Budweis. The beer is really Budweiser Budvar, but Anheuser-Busch has more cash and lawyers so the real Budweiser is called Czechvar here.

I tried czechvar and really like it. It is available at Specs. Thanks mathman.

Another good pilsner is Pilsner Urquell from the town of Plzn, Czech.

I like AmberBock. However, I'll qualify that by saying it's OK in a bottle, but really seems to shine on tap/draft. While working a job in Oklahoma, the local bar didn't have Sam Adams, so the bartender suggested it. I'm glad she did.

I really like Sam Adams Winter Lager and Sam Adams Oktoberfest. They are quite similar, and the alcohol content is a wee bit higher than the usual fare. They are seasonally offered brews. Heavy and Rich if the names did not suggest. Of course, there is also Sam Adams Boston Lager which is always in my fridge. A bit bitter with a strong flavor. I really like it.

A good brew from Mexico is Negra Modelo. This is a dark beer if the name didn't tell you with a robust flavor. My second favorite out of Mexico is Dos Equis Lager in the green bottle.

Well, I'll probably chime in another time with some more. But I need to go run so I can continue to drink beer without having the belly smile .

I see one other wisconsin brewed beer on the list with Leinies, but how about the "Origial Blue Bullet" Point Special Beer. They also have a great root beer and a Point Bock.

Good call on the Negra Modelo. I like the Dos Equis Amber. Three other good Mexican beers that don't make it north are Montejo, Victoria, and Superior. I admit my favorite 2 beers here at home are Bud and Natty Light. Hell I ain't picky I'll drink em all.

Yuengling Lager
Newcastle
Harpoon IPA
Continental Divide Rasberry stuff was good
Saranac anything
Iron City and Rolling Rock ain't bad
Bud pounders or 32 oz. cans

I dig any IPA, Brown Ales, or Pale Ale mostly. I'd really like to try some Alaskan Brewing Co. stuff.
