I stand by calling djs a liar. He asserted that his alleged reading of the entire Bill gave him greater knowledge of this Bill than me, then when pressed, admitted he didn't actually read 20% of it.
A man can oppose 1200 pages by reading 2 pages that are wholly unacceptable. Only a fool would preach that something is acceptable, having not read 1/5 of it.

I said that I read 1200+ pages of the bill (over the past 3 weeks at work). I have admittedly not read the amendments, but then many on this Forum have not even read (and commented on) the basic bill. Has anyone here ever considered that others with different experiences and educational backgrounds might have different opinions on a subject? Are you the sole determinates of intelligence, morality and what is good for the long-term viability of the nation? If someone dies not agree with you, are they stupid, or just a liar?

I want to see every republican that crossed or didn't vote on a list so that we can protest them until they get fired. [bleep] jackass sellouts.

Makes me wonder why I bother voting Republican at all. They absolutely will not stick together on anything. Worthless party with no leader and no direction.
Yet I'll still vote for the worthless [bleep] next election.

This still needs to get through the Senate, correct?
Does anyone know how things stand in the Senate and when a potential vote would be?

Guys I haven't read all posts but it has to go through the Senate. I hear it is doomed there.

I don't know if he's trying to keep the King Co. greenies happy or what?

I put liar out there because I knew you did not read the 300 pages amendment today and thus were in no position to claim it was a good Bill. You inferred that you read the entire Bill.
Yes, intelligent men can differ. This is not a Bill however that has much gray area. The Bill is based upon junk science and has loopholes for Democrat supported industries and subsidies for Liberal groups. This is not a bi-partisan Bill. This is yet another example of a one sided pork Bill being passed wholly upon Party lines. 8 Republicans is hardly "bi-partisan".
I would support a Bill that actually stopped pollution in the nations rivers and lakes, this is not that type of Bill. This is the result of very corrupt individuals playing "gotcha".
How someone can look at provisions preventing the sale of privately owned property until they meet arbitrary federal energy efficiency standards and find that either Constitutional or a must for cleaner air is beyond me. Especially since in the same Bill they manage to force utilities to tax themselves and subsidize low income (minorities) energy consumption.
How exactly will enticing low income households to use MORE energy through subsidization clean the air and rivers? It won't. This is nothing more than wealth redistribution part IV.

Better to vote for a party that voted 95% against this crap than a party that voted 90% for it. 6-10% fallout on any Bill can be expected, you know they were bribed with pork. The problem is the Communist party has a majority or 8 votes wouldn't matter.

DJS, sorry must have not made myself clear. What would YOU, individually give up for this "greenness." You mentioned that "everyone wants to got to heaven but no one wants to die" and the "everyone wants to have clean air but no one wants to pay for it."
What do YOU sacrifice on the alter of greeness? Are you willing to pay bigger bucks for electricity to deter usage, etc? Most people are like the person talking about the cute little baby seals being clubbed while chomping down on a burger or steak.
I just can't understand why people would support taxation to deter the way of life that THEY live. Some people are really going to findout they have been royally screwed whenever they awake form the enchantment of the Choosen One.

Tragic news. We can hope that when the Dems get swept out next year that the Republicans (who will likely run on reversing what the Dems did) will repeal it. No they won't reverse this cuz it isn't as bad as the Democrats wanted. Republicans as good ole fashioned paleo-Cons are dead. Its all relative now... as in, "We're relatively conservative compared to the socialism of the Democrats!" Nationalized medicine, Gov't Motors, bank bail-outs, the Republicans approve of it all... just with more relatively conservative window treatments. Its going to take more than 1 year for the Republicans to gain back control, and it'll take WAY more than the Republicans have in 'em to ever back us out of the mess that Pres. Bush started late last year with the bank bailouts... or earlier (with other "relatively conservative" moves), depending upon when you want to draw the lines.

This has nothing to do with clean air, you simpleton idiot.
Really, have you read the bill - the whole bill of 1200+ pages? I have, and while I differ with portions, it is a decent start to perserve clean air. Some who blindly oppose it offer no valid alternative, just US Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lobbist interpretations. Are you one of the environmentally ill ? Air quality is greatly improved over the last 50 years. The only valid alternative is to build nuclear power plants and the idiot environmentalists don't want that. They want us all crammed together in cardboard box apartments without cars. Or even better dead. The goal of this bill is not to boost the environment. If it was for that they would make it revenue neutral. It's purpose is to increase taxes so the Dims will have more money to waste on people who are too lazy to get an education and work.

This Country is so far in the toilet one wonders if we can ever recover. The Senate will be the last stand. There are so many mis-guided people that have no clue, including this DJS guy. The Dems and their leader do not care about global warming, CO2 or any other voodoo science. They are motivated by increasing taxes and controlling our freedoms. Its not over - yet. However Obama Care is coming next. If O gets both, this Country will be relegated to second class status. Obama is lying more and more each day to continue his grand plan. Never has this Country slipped so far and so fast.

So many of us Americans voted for so much of this crap and the people involved, I didn't, but it matters not,,, maybe we just deserve to suffer for the stupidity of so many...Maybe sometime, we as a Nation will grasp and understand Politics, the deceptions and then re create this Country and its Politics. I hope, but I doubt it til we are all living in Gooberment housing and eating meals on Food Stamps. Course, that is what the Gomerment wants, total dependance on them.. If you don't see that, well, vote for Obama and the Liberal Politicians in 2010 and 2012. You'll get your wish. Cap & Trade,, just wait til you finally open your eyes and see what it cost you. Goomerment IS ORGANIZED we fellow Taxpayers are NOT. We bitch about things, but to NO avail because other than the 2 parties, we have no real organization. The folks in CONTROL know this. How do you think they pull off all the crap... OH YA.. we can vote them out. Ya think so? They just get replaced with another mouthpiece. I think as a Country, we are doomed, not now, not in 10 years, but eventually America as we know it will dissapear as sure as the Dinosaurs did
