Thinking about picking this one up. SAS is nice. DAK trigger has gotten a lot of good reviews. One question I cannot find the answer on...so to the experts:

Conceal carry. Chamber a round in the barrel. I don't believe this gun has a decocker or manual safety. How do you carry this gun loaded?

Isn't that a variety of DAO? The length of the trigger would be your safety, like a revolver or other DAO hammer-type auto as previously made by S&W, Beretta to name two that come to mind.

I have a 229R with a DAK trigger and I love it.
You absoluely carry with a round chambered. There is no decocker or manual safety. The hammer follows the slide but stops at a slightly less than "half cock" position. It has a firing pin safety in the slide.

The trigger is very nice and smooth

For concealed carry I think I would look at the 229 SAS. My wife has a 239 SAS in .40, but it is a big gun for only a 7 round magazine.

If you go to Sig Forum (www.sigforum.com) there is a lot of information on DAK guns.

Cheyenne... Thanks. So the hammer is not just cocked all the way open when carrying.

Your first shot then...has a longer trigger travel...similar to a Beretta...then following shots have a slightly shorter travel?

I will definately check the forum out. Much appreciated,

Robert

The 226 will be tough to conceal, depending on your dress. I like the 229 SAS much better, I had one and sold it and wish I never did. As stated before the 239 is small but relatively large when compare to other autos in its class that hold twice as much ammo.

Thanks to all for the advice. Much appreciated. I'm looking at the 226 because I shoot for fun a lot and like a slightly longer barrel and 12 cap mag. Don't have conceal license yet...will sometime soon. Will probably go a jacket or vest for conceal...

If you get a gun with a DAK trigger, the trigger travel is the same for each shot. On a DAK gun, the hammer is almost completely down, so I misspoke about it being slightly less than half cock. You almost cannot tell that the hammer is not resting on the slide. That is really not much different than the SIG DA/SA guns

It think SIG now is making SAS guns with the traditional DA/SA trigger, which is NOT a DAK trigger.

Be sure you know which SAS you are looking at.
