1 in 14 is just right for the 9,3X74R, IMO. I'll bet Ruger's info is mistaken, and it is 1:14. I hope its wrong. Their website isn't great for correct info. They still have the 1-H listed for the 9.3X74R.

CIP pressure CUP for 9.3's as per A-Square manual -x74 43,500 -x62 49,300 -x64 55,150 as is .358 Norma -if you had a #1 in 9.3x64 no one would question 55,000 other than brass issues. Bob Hagel did an article in Big Bore Rifles + Cartridges on a .338x74R Keith Ruger #1, 250 gr. at 2,700 with no brass problems on a slightly impoved case. RWS is likely the brass of choice.

9.3X62 You just made my argument for me. Why not run it to around 50,000 in the Ruger No.1? I treat my drillings, BBFs, and DRs a bit more tenderly, however.

My Quickload says about 2600 fps with the 286 gr if loaded to modern pressures. I do not know whether the Hornady brass will like that though.

Withgout readin the many posts on here I can offer some advise that I have picked up after shooting the 9.3x62 and 9.3x64 over a number of years..
For Bradfrod, Lothar Walther IMO makes the best barrels in the world...All of the LW barrels are 1x14 twist for the 9.3 (.366) caliber..That is the correct twist for the 9.3x62, 9.3x74 and the 9.3x64 IMO...LW makes this caliber in a number of contours including the original Mauser that sleeves the Recnagle barrel band rear sight and also they have my old .375 Holland and Holland contour in stock, as Woody at LW traced mine and kept it on file and is now offering it.
I believe you can load a NO. 1 Ruger hotter than any bolt action and be safe if you know what your doing and work up slowly..I have no doubt that you can load the 9.3x74 to 9.3x62 velocities in a Ruger No.1 and perhaps the 9.3x64 but you wouldn't gain much over a 9.3x62 in doing that.
The preferred powders will be RL-15, H-414, and MuleDeer has had success with Ramshot..I have not tried it but will in the near future. I use Fed. 210 Primers, RWS, Lapua, and Graff brass in my 9.3x62. I suspect you will use Hornadys and its excellent brass.
Hope you can glean something out of this post!

The Hornady brass is excellent, in fact I have found any 9.3x74R brass that isn't good--though admittedly I haven't tried every brand. Have used RWS, Norma and Hornady.
I actually haven't tried Ramshot Big Game (a great powder with heavy bullets in the 9.3x62) in the 9.3x74R, but H4350 is really good. I say this partly because it's what regulates with 286's in my 9.3x74R side-by-side, but it also produces excellent accuracy and velocities. Am getting 2450 or so with the load that regulates in my double (65 grains) but that can easily be raised in a No. 1.

Worked well at book levels this fall, even with "only" a Hornady slug. (It carries about the same as the same rifle in 45-70, but has much better manners when fired. )

Thanks - X2
I was running Varget at the max load recommendation for the 286 grain bullet. Bullet was Interlock. Both expanded well and exited.
