Elkhunter, I'll probably show up too. No need for any reservations, I'll just bring along my camper trailer and find a place for it.

Jack Creek is just a few miles east of where I hunt, along the Forest Service road that extends south from Hwy. 71 coming out of Rawlings.

Sounds like you've been to Jack Creek before. Have you visited the crew quarters or campground?

No, I can't say I have. There's a gravel road leaving Saratoga to the west and after about twenty miles there's a junction. Turn left and go to the Jack Creek campground, or go straight and after another 8-10 miles you're in the area that I hunt. I've only lived here in Wyoming 3 years and have yet to explore the Jack Creek area. It's higher elevation and during hunting season it tends to have more snow up there.

gotlost:

There's one thing that we need to confirm before 50 people in 40 vehicles arrive at this place and that's the ability to park vehicles and travel trailers. The campground has only a handfull of spots (I think I read 14) and I saw in another post that there's only room for three vehicles at the crew quarters. I think it's logical to anticipate that we will fill up the campground and parking area at the crew quarters. And that assumes that we will be the only people there. That's not a good bet in June. Everyone has assumed that since we will be on U.S. Forest Service land, we can camp anywhere. We all know that tents are very flexible so they can be setup in lots of places. But what about the vehicles that go with those tents? There may be several million acres of land but how many opportunities are there to park a vehicle off of the road? How much of it is flat enough to park a trailer? And where can trailers get off the road if/when the campground and crew quarters parking area fills up?

I plan to arrive early and get a spot and will be more than willing to share that spot with others. I will try to stake out more than one spot by putting my trailer in one, and parking my pickup in another. That way I can give that spot to someone else from our group who might arrive late. But what about those that arrive even later? The campground may be full of campers and many of them may not be part of our group.

The best situation would be to talk to someone who is familiar with the area and therefore already knows what opportunities are available. If we're not that lucky, then someone needs to get up there as soon as the snow melts and the roads open up, to see if there are opportunities to camp in areas other than the campground and crew quarters.

Do we need to reserve that Guard Station also? Is there room in the corral to park trailers?

There should be no problem with Places to put campers, tents, ect. I'll call Saratoga (FS) after I get back to wyo. there has not been any problem for the last 30 years, other than you must move camp every 28 days. If you Google map the area you'll see lots of places nearby to camp.

There is a huge meadowed area near the campground that would hold everyone that plans to attend. The Rawlins archery club used to hold a shoot up there every year and it only had about 100-200 people show up. I think the area can handle the Fire. The Madres have no problems with parking spots for tents and trailers. Find an open spot and use it. You should see the circus that is elk season on that hill.

No one needs to go up early after the snow and take pics, I spend about fifty days a year on that hill. You may have to go down the road a few miles but there are several places to camp, including trailers.

The parking and camping are of no concern to me. My only concern and maybe Gotlost can check is that this might be getting big enough that the forest circus might want us to get a special use permit.
