I also worked on that rifle off & on for over 20 years to get it shooting that well, and I was kinda proud of the accomplishment No chit!!! I've had 3 No. 1's, and couldn't get a one of 'em to shoot MOA. Mule Deer has had even more of 'em with similar experience. You done good with that purty rifle, Tex!

[quote=Steelhead] Got one of those rat-holed away myself...seems like theyre worth too much to shoot now....
Who da thunk it???
Ingwe Who da thunk it is right, especially when the basic version of the nylon was going for all of about $125 about 15 years back. I realize the rarer configurations demanded more coin than the basic back then, but the way the prices shot up is surprising.

Ingwe is the roundish puckered one that smells like his mother's breath.

Nothing wrong with Marlin and Win. They got the history...Win won the West. Marlin made Savage 1895's for Savage Repeating Arms Co. until Savage Arms Company went on their own in Aug of 1899. Roe Clark (deceased Savage historian) told me the drawings for Savage rotary magazine came from Colt Pat Firearms. Win 1886,1892,1873 models are hard not to like...wouldn't give sweat off my sack for a 1876 model. Savage perfected the Lever. Fewer moving parts. No tube-magazine. George Madis (deceased Win guru) said that Savage made the best levergun ever. Nuf Sed
