Easy on the ears but a few years too late

b,

great pic. Does not look like the stag went anywhere after the shot.

Please tell us more about the rifle - especially the moderator. Handling, weight, service, noise reduction, how does the game react...

Thanks,

the barrel is cut to 18 inches and turned down so the rifle is still the same weight and length as it was originally [24in bbl]Still handles the same. Its not silent but the sharp noise that hurts your ears is gone.Animals are often confused with the noise direction specially at longer range which is handy if you want to shoot more than one of them.I usually only use this rifle in the bush because of the 18in barrel and use another rifle with an ordinary suppressor in open country

My new all-around favorite rifle.

Sako A7 in 300WSM with a 6x42LR.
Simple, reasonably light and accurate.
Trajectory/wind drift matches up almost perfectly with my old 270WCF ADL/6x36LR but the A7 is about a pound lighter.

That rig should work well, Sam, and nice pic of the Logan range.

My favorite rifle, a 1989 Ruger .257 Roberts. Purchased in like new condition in 2004. The scope is a used Leupold 4.5-14x.
[Linked Image]

No battery is complete without some lever action satisfaction. From the top, a Marlin 1895 .45-70, Marlin 375 in .375 Winchester, Marlin 336 in .30-30, Browning B92 in .44 Mag.
[Linked Image]

My latest addition, a 2001 Ruger MKII in .30-06. It currently has a used Leupold M8 4x in the rings, probably the same one that was on the Roberts when I bought it. (The other is on the Marlin 375, no way to know which is which.) It will soon be swapped with a Burris FFI w/ Ballistic Plex in 3-9 or 4.5-14. Makes a nice match with its older brother, a M77 in walnut and blue. Hope to get out next weekend and shoot it

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

IMO this rig is hard to beat for a do all rig.

LVSF in 7-08, McMillan Mt rifle, worked over by Karl, VX-III 3.5x10x40 in QD talleys. I keep building rigs to try and better this one and keep going back to it for a bunch of real good reasons.
