I'm not as hard to please as the rest of you, but 2 that really stick out are:
1. An early Ruger #1S in 300Win with gorgeous walnut. I used to own this exact rifle, and after bedding it was a tackdriver. A friend talked me out of it, and he soon sold it. I've tried to find it, but have had no luck. I've got an eye out for it's twin.
2. A Pre-'64 M70 with a 25" fwt contour .25-06 barrel in a classic walnut stock. Throw on a Vari-X III 4.5-14X40 A/O matte with 4A reticle in Conetrol mounts, make it shoot 1/2" and I'd be a happy guy!
That's all I want for Christmas. Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Sheister,
O well the season now fadding like the last sunset
as I waited for the buck to cross the saddle of the ridge,
The wind swireled around, the numb of cold not beyond the feet yet
and still I waited for a buck to cross the saddle of the ridge
The sun lowered its self below that empty ridge line
and now the cold was moving through out all my limbs
So as the last of the light faded I had to admit it was time
to leave that saddle of the ridge and head back to the inn.
This season ended with out a buck in the truck,
I just simply had the wrong kind of luck.
Now as I wait for the next one to come around
I try hard not to pout and frown
I read these message boards of others in withdrawal
hoping to hear soon the next season call
Instead I answear these post of what we spin in our mind
Just so to past the slow moving time.
What do I want? you ask... boy what a task...
How abouts a Model Seven in 7mm TCU, 18.5 inch tube, KS stock,
Now if Santa would only be kind enough to place one in the sock.
Merry Xmas.. and seasons greatings ...Pick...

1) Marlin 336 SS .30/30 (I like lever actions, and I like .30/30s and stainless is great)
2) Remington 700 Titanium in .30/06. (I don't really like what Remington has become, but the titanium intrigues me).
3) Colt 1991 stainless .45
4) Browning Citori 12 gauge

I typically find that want often turns to need, thus the purchase of building of said gun. When one of more gather dust in the rack, they make room for a new one.
In no paticular order:
A tricked out AR-15
An Anshutz 22lr match
A 22 hornet CZ
A real MS 6.5mm, with dual triggers, full wood stock, with color case on a skeleton butt plate, skeleton grip cap and trigger guard, 24 lpi checkering fleur de lis pattern, nice walnut oil finished and boned, and a slow rust blue on the action and barrel.
A Ruger #1 in a wildcat 6.5mm, 29" barrel, not sure on what case, maybe the 348
An HK 91
A 357 maximum 18" barrel for the contender, w/ the folding stock
A 357 maximum lever gun
A 375 H&H built by H&H
A 416 Rigby, on a magnum mauser action
A lathe to build my 458 Alaskan varminter (505 gibbs necked down and improved, 500 gr @ 3000 fps, or a little more)
A 50 Alaskan lever gun, ss w/ 17" non ported barrel
A Ruger #1 500 NE
A 500 NE double
A 585 Nyati bolt gun
I'm sure there are a few others that don't come to mind at the moment

Right now the most wanted but not needed is a 9.3x62 on a Springfield currently wearing a nicely blued military barrel. Then buy the Springfield in one of the local gun emporiums and replace the crappy barrel with the takeoff. Of course it would make more sense to rebarrel the one I have to buy, but that would not satisfy my needs. Little about this passion is logical except for the reloading sequence.

Well, yes ahum yep indeed.
For my anual freezer filling expeditions I really use
.270 Rem. KS for most deer hunting
.308 Rem. Mod.7 full length stock, for deer drives
.300 Wby. long range Antelope,Elk and Mulie rifle
.338 in Sako and Rem. 700 KS, most Elk/Moose.
.223 Rem. for furballs, pasture poodles etc.

I drool over the idea of owning again a 6.5x54 original Mannlicher Schonauer in vg to exel. condition
and.......................a featherweight 45/70 1886 Win.
The last one I can get easily in the store. The first is hard to find and outrageous pricey if you do. I owned one in the 1970's, including fine claw mounts. Yeah, yeah, yes I sold the little jewel.#@$%!!??

Shiester: I've wanted a Marlin 45-70 for many years. When Marlin started building the guide gun, the desire increased. When Marlin started building the stainless guide gun, it has come to a near fever pitch! However, I'm a one gun hunter and I really don't need a specialized rifle. So, as much as it hurts, common sense (a disease which afflicts me seldom) takes control and I'll not buy the Marlin. -memtb

membth, following your conscience and using common sense is the shortest route to the downfall of our system as we know it today! Don't you know that as an American you are required to follow the lead of various pitchmen and "writers" to go out and buy everything new that comes out, in order to keep our American system of manufacturers, distributors, stores, and gunshow vendors from certain destitute status! [Linked Image]
Now go out and buy something you don't need today before the entire American system goes into a recession! Whoops, too late- now see what you've done? [Linked Image]- Sheister
