to which one are you referring, exactly?

That's also part of the illusion created by the camera angle.

If the camera were top-dead-center over the barrel, you could see that the gap on both sides is the same.

That Mauser looks a lot like mine. Only Mine says Taconic on it.

They're exactly the same. Satterlee worked for Taconic and bought out the inventory, design, etc... after Taconic went under.

Here are my 3 that have had some work on them for increased functionality, or just to make them how I like 'em.

Marlin 1895GBL
45/70 Gov.
Traded the Laminate stocks for this nice walnut set off an older 1895. Took a little sanding for fit, but very happy at how it turned out.

Nothing too fancy, but they'll suit my purposes well.

Here is the final installment of a project I have posted about at various stages.

LH Model 70
7 mm Rem Mag, long throated specifically for 168 gr Berger VLDs
Port opened, extractor and boltstop modified for longer cartridges.
Brux 1-9 twist CM barrel, 24", custom contour of my design--about .55" at muzzle. (Mark Penrod did the chambering, action mods and bluing.)
Tang recut to cloverleaf, built up and checkered bolt release; (James Anderson did this work.)

Williams floorplate, somewhat resculpted.
McMillan/Echols Legend in Edge construction
1/2" NEGC red pad
Polane paint, done locally
Talley bases and rings
Minox ZA5 3-15x
Weight as you see it is 8# 1 oz.

[Linked Image]

I like the flow of the grip, out of the tip of the checkering and into the bolt release cutout.
[Linked Image]

Details and crisp edges around the floorplate
[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Port lengthened and contoured to match the Talley bases
[img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/utah708/P8041947.jpg[/img]

This photo is a little hot, but it helps me highlight the cheekpiece details and flow through the grip.

So this is my fifth "Last Gun"--95 to go. It will come on my second "Last Good Elk Tag I'll Ever Draw" hunt in Wyoming this fall.

They are part of the reason I like the Legend hands down over any other McMillan for a Winchester. The only other McMillan pattern I am using is the Compact for light/short barrel contours (which don't match up well with forend of the Legend.)
