Am I seeing things,,,, or is the barrel channel in the stock that poorly matched to the barrel? to which one are you referring, exactly? use the "quote" or "quick quote" buttons next time if you're not responding to the final post in the thread.

That's just the angle of the camera/photo. Notice how the flat of the octagon barrel at the top of the photo seems to be wider than the bottom one? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.chrissells.com/hunt/7x57_5.jpg) That's also part of the illusion created by the camera angle. If the camera were top-dead-center over the barrel, you could see that the gap on both sides is the same.

That Mauser looks a lot like mine. Only Mine says Taconic on it. They're exactly the same. Satterlee worked for Taconic and bought out the inventory, design, etc... after Taconic went under.

Here is the final installment of a project I have posted about at various stages. LH Model 70 7 mm Rem Mag, long throated specifically for 168 gr Berger VLDs Port opened, extractor and boltstop modified for longer cartridges. Brux 1-9 twist CM barrel, 24", custom contour of my design--about .55" at muzzle. (Mark Penrod did the chambering, action mods and bluing.) Tang recut to cloverleaf, built up and checkered bolt release; (James Anderson did this work.) Williams floorplate, somewhat resculpted. Wow, very nice. Love the lines of the stock. They are part of the reason I like the Legend hands down over any other McMillan for a Winchester. The only other McMillan pattern I am using is the Compact for light/short barrel contours (which don't match up well with forend of the Legend.)
