Scopes were in in the war between the states and I don't think they were shooting to many of the inlines . But whos knows they were there also.As for 200 yards any of them will shoot that far .Don't belive me pick up Ned Roberts book on Muzzleloaders

They'll shoot that far and even further. Having shot both for many many years I feel there is no comparison. For me a traditional rifle is a 30 yard gun since I can't see the target past that. I would feel pretty comfortable taking a 250 yard shot with one of my inlines.

Swampman. I agree that 200 Yards is a long shot for hunting. However Myself I would take a competive shot that far with a tc or Lyman 50 anytime. Heck I use a museum replica JP Beck .45 flinter for competion and would take that shot as well. For hunting though I would not use any of them out past 50 yards.

I've shot lots of 200 yard silhouettes with flintlocks and caplocks but live game is a different story.
