A question for the gunsmiths out there or anyone with a good idea!! I have a rem 700 BDL chambered in 300 WSM. I have the standard Rem box magazine with the sides cut out for WSM cartridges and the standard Rem follower and spring. When I cycle the bolt it sometimes misses the next round. Doesn't happen all the time just enough to make me want to come up with a fix. I tried the Wyatt box magazine but wasn't real happy with it and went back to the standard follower. Thinking of the HS Precision box magazine but they are pricey. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks, 163bc

You need to go to a center feed detachable box magazine to get reliable feeding on your 300 WSM.
Look at the HS Precision DBM or the Badger M5.

Wow, that must be really disappointing. I love everything about my Win Model 70 300WSM except for the price of the rounds. Perhaps you should aim very carefully on the first shot. With the price of ammo and the inability of your rem 700 bdl to reliably feed, seems like a logical solution.

If it's bent, or out of position, or has unequal (or weak) pressure - a new spring should cure it.. It's paramount that the upcoming rounds in the mag are situationally high enough to ensure positive bolt engagement.. Work with that main issue and the results should be positive...

Thanks for the responces fellas. I've checked over the spring follower and it seems to be fine??? My rifle is exrtremly accurate and I always try to make the first shot the one that counts but having the second round ready right behind it is a must have for me. I have decided to go with an HS Box magazine and ordered it today. I'm lookinbg forward to solving the problem. Thanks, 163bc
