Loose your 9.3x62 ammo in America and you'll wish you had a 375... (probably across the pond as well) Dober

Lose your ammo, and you've f'ked up royally to a degree that is almost unthinkable.
Hello? Ship schit ahead of time, and verify arrival?
How f'kin' hard is THAT?
Now, lose your schit, while you're with your schit, and you're likely beyond help.

I have traveled some when hunting from Alaska to Africa (and even from Norway to Sonora) and quit worrying about losing my ammo quite a while ago. It does happen but it's extremely rare. In my experience it's far more frequent to lose your rifle somewhere along the way--which means you'll be borrowing a rifle AND ammo anyway.
I've even traveled deep into roadless Alaska with a wildcat 9.3, after taking several planes from Outside to get there. If you want a 9.3, it won't be a hindrance to your hunting travel.

I have no doubt the .270 or .280 would have done as well as your -06. What I mean is this- if you had taken one of your Whelen barrels, and your luggage/ammo was lost in transit, good luck on finding ammo. With the 9.3, go to the gun store with your PH and buy some 9.3 ammo.
Please don't take any of this personally, I like the Whelens too.
No problem. My Whelens will probably never leave the States. I have shot Elk with the 35 and 375 and they done good.Hunting big Dangerous game probably is not in the books as that cost more than I can afford.
Its all right to be white!! Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience

From what I've seen, all the Ruger distributors now have listings for a 2011 Ruger Hawkeye African model chambered in 9.3x62. These listings have a Ruger manufacturing number as if Ruger were making them now. I've not seen any official announcement from Ruger yet, but I was told this new 9.3x62 will be included in the new 2011 catalog. If they make an announcement, it will probably be very soon.
Best:)

I know that the 9.3 X 62 is a popular cartridge.I have never had one. This statement was made on the 9.3 X 62 thread. "It is essentially a 375 H&H with five in the magazine." I dissagree. It is essentially between 35 Whelen and a 375 Whelen. These cartridges were called the poor Mans 375H&H.Yes they can kill big game,no doubt.I do not believe them to be the 375H&H`s equal . Have you considered the 9.3x66? It's almost identical, ballistically, to the 375 H&H

I think RS means rings/sights. That would be a neat rifle.

From what I understand, it is the African model, same as the 375 with the heavy duty fixed sights.
