UPS dropping off a surprise today.
I got some 250 and 300gr Aerolites for testing.
I dont have any pics yet but these suckers are slick looking! Can't wait to get them out on the range and into the sand buckets.
Some info ive i got after taking one apart and measuring. The hollow point is massive.
250gr Aerolite Bullets over all length "Nipple at bottom of bullet not included": .840" Bullet DIA: .499" Bullet DIA measured at Plastic Base * aka - Skirt* .507"- .508" Hard to get my calipers on it perfectly. Overall length with Aerotip removed: .592" Hollow Point DIA: .202" Ballistic Tip Shaft Length .324"
I went and loaded up some powder tubes with 90 - 100 - 110gr Blackhorn209 and if its nice in the morning " Supposed to snow" I'll be out filling up buckets with wet sand for testing. I will line the buckets front with about 2" of wet news paper and then the rest with damp sand to stop the bullet.
I already loaded one into my Optima which i will use tomorrow with the Aerolites for testing. I was pretty amazing at how smooth they go down the bore. The new coating is SLICK, almost like a teflon maybe?
The slickness has also helped with the base being able to detach smoothly and pretty easily. With the Copper series and Platinums i was shooting today i was playing around with that and noticed how most of them stick to the nipple pretty good. Ive gone through one package of the 250's and all the skirts came off smooth and easy.
Will get some pics up when i can. Still going to measure and see what else i can find on these Aerolites.

You won't need the wet sand in the buckets, the wet newspaper will stop them..."GRIN"
Just playing..not trying to start a "Swampy" thread.

LOL i know you are playing. But in truth, I shot into 18" of soaking wet news paper and had Powerbelts blow right through them. Sometimes the sand isnt even enough to catch them so i like to keep the sand damp and put a big weight on top of the sand to keep it pressed down firm.
I'll have more info once i finish up here. Trying to look over the bullet closely for detail.

Well heres the best target from today, the 300's were running second place but i didnt allow them to cool down so that will be retried most likely tomorrow. This is the Optima with the 250 Aerolites and 100gr Blackhorn209 from 100 yards. 3 shots, a few minutes to cool down between shots. This Optima will NOT group with the 245's so i was surprised to hell when i saw this group starting to form. Resizing other target pics from today and will post those a bit later on. It will make a heck of a deer load and i just might have to give them a go this year.

Cut one in half or smash it with a hammer...are they still just a lead bullet like the others they offer?

Appears to be, here's something from the web:
The new Powerbelt AeroLite is specifically designed for the standard 100-grain charge used by most hunters. According company representatives, it is a bullet built to take down whitetails with magnum performance without the magnum recoil. The AeroLite also has a much larger hollow-point cavity than other versions, which maximizes expansion capability while eliminating the weight from the bullets core.
PowerBelt has already begun to ship this bullet to dealers across the country.
A wise man is frequently humbled.

Well we got the Accura V2 and Optima out on the Chronograph today! It actually turned on! :affraid:
Started with the CVA Optima .50cal and the 250gr Aerolites with 100gr Blackhorn209, CCI 209M primers. Did not clean flash channel during the testing. First shot from clean bore. 1914 1925 1889 - Average velocity 1909 FPS.
Moving to the 300gr Aerlite with the same charge and primer and again, no cleaning the flash channel. 1840 1839 1831
----------------------
Accura V2, 100gr Blackhorn209, 250gr Aerolite, dirty bore from previous day of shooting ( 10 shots total) No cleaning of the breech plug flash hole on shot #1 1997 2050 " with clean flash channel" 2075 " with clean flash channel"
Average FPS 2041 fps.
Only a spread of 32 feet per second.
Doing it again tomorrow but with a fully clean V2 and a clean flash channel. The 300's will also get their turn in the V2 but with 120gr Blackhorn209 as thats what the rifle likes best. Powder pig!
