Why did you go with the Mexican 1936 style cocking piece?

These are the two of mine. I have posted before this pictures.

1- 1935 Mauser with a new unused Steyr 1912 barrel. Original stock reworked.
1- Original Sporting DWM 1893. Factory Made. Only 1000 were made like this one. A kind of, not exactly, the so called Plezier Mausers.

Regards

Not only could I never take that rifle to the field in fear of some kind of anything happening to it, I'd probably have to buy it it's own safe.

That is likely the most awesome piece of wood I have ever seen on a rifle. Kinda like it has it's own camo job.

TC's gun - what a gem!!! A safe queen indeed.

The only thing that will do it justice .......is seeing a nice deer sitting next to it with a happy hunter in the background.

Thats MHO!!!

I am building a 7x57 on a MarkX. I have a McMillan with a blind magazine. Benchmark is making the barrel. I will show pictures when I have it back.

Muleshoe - 100% agree with you. The wood shown in these posts just great...problem is I'd cringe (read CRY!)if they ever became dinged in anyway. Homesteader.

Here's the way I look at it and maybe this will help. I'm only going to be on this earth for so long. Guns like that last longer than the owners or the people that built them. One day I'll die and this rifle will belong to someone else. You can't take it with you. When that day happens and it will, whomever receives my rifles will get what's left of them because I'm going to enjoy them while I'm here. When I get too old to use them I'll look at the scrathes and dings and remember how they got there and the fun I had using the rifle. Hopefully they'll bring back fond memories. I try my best to take care of them for the next owner but they are just material things and they will be used while I own them.

Here is interesting one. This one comes out of the shop of Paul Dressel. Paul isn't a conformist, he follows nobody when it comes to style. When you get a custom from him you get a true custom.

BRNO 21H in 7X57. 24" barrel, Zeiss/Jena 6X scope.
