What a lot of people don't realize about Garth is he graduated from that convict school in Stillwater with a degree in marketing. He's been able to create a (now fading) superstar image out of someone who would otherwise be a lardass, balding, karaoke singer wannabe. I've never drank that Kool-Aid and I never could get the appeal.
And now more of what country music used to be:
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

Garth Brooks isn't the only left wing Country singer, Tim McGraw is a socialist himself, as well as Faith Hill, Willie Nelson and to a lesser degree, Randy Travis.
Lot of limousine liberals in Nashville and some of the country music stars get caught up in that social network.

Except Willie Nelson has talent and is likable, whether you agree with his politics or not.

Don't worry, he hasn't done anything worth listening to since about 1994.
Brian.

I've always thought it silly to give a crap what an entertainer has to say about anything. Who cares if Garth or the Dixie Chicks are liberals? Really. Does it really matter? I'd be surprised if the average musician or actor had any political education. And it's not like the successful ones have to worry much. So their opinion only counts as much as anyone's would.
Same with athletes. Just as silly to give a crap about how they vote.
Letting their opinions influence me will never happen. If I like their music/movies/sport, so be it. Doesn't mean I'm gonna suddenly value their opinion.
Take the Red Headed Stranger for example. Most of the conservatives I know that love country or folk music love him. Yet he's the most liberal, dope smokin, tax evading guy I know. Yet they don't care. Those same people flipped out about the Dixie Chicks and threw their CD's away. They let other people's opinions influence them into throwing out music they paid for and had enjoyed.
It's just silly.
I'll be the first to admit my hypocrisy though. I HATE Jane Fonda. But she's a little different. She actually rendered aid to the enemy and put our troops directly in danger. Much different than just speaking your political opinion.

You are right I could care less whether or not an entertainer is liberal or not, but what bugs me to no end are entertainers who think their own opinions worthy of preaching or offering up, as somehow more worthy. Stop Garth Brooks the next time you seem him somewhere, see how long he listens to your opinion.
I happen to think that when Ernest Tubb and Buck Owens died, so did country music.
When people face the possibility of freezing or starving there is little chance they are going to listen to unfounded claims of climate doomsday from a bunch of ultra-rich yacht sailing private jet-setting carbon-spewing hypocrite elites
