Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile. He was a great catcher and caught one of the very best, Bob Gibson. But why does he feel like he needs to explain the game as though he's talking to an audience that's never heard of baseball? I mean he isn't exactly explaining the infield fly, his observations usually go deeper. Can't say you are wrong in your opinion, I hear the same from a lot of fans.

A referee told this story once, said McCarver was on his way out to the bump to talk to Gibson, he made it a bout three steps out of the batters box.
