My all time favorite rimfire scope so far is a Burris 4-12X Compact R/A. It just seems to work well for everything I do with a rimfire. The clarity is very good. The reticle is fine which is good for target use but not so thin that it's hard to use hunting. Like stated above the power range is about perfect for hunting, plinking and target practice. It has an A/O which may or may not be needed but I like it. It certainly helps to clean up the image when you've got the power cranked up to 12X shooting at a 50yd target. The model I have has target turrets. I've never used them as a shooting aid though, but may start one day. One thing I really like about the scope is it's just about the perfect size and fits on top of a .22 rifle nicely. This model has been discontinued but I think they still make one just like it except without the target turrets.

I bought a Leupold VXI 2-7 RF (rimfire) scope. It's been rock solid and a pleasure to shoot on my CZ 452 American.
Squirrels hate it, though.
Note that I don't push the range of my .22 rifle when hunting. I'm try to keep my shots under 50 yards.

I'm running a cheap Tasco at the moment with AO. Parallax adjustment is an absolute must if one wants to flex the range on squirrels. The downside to my cheapy is that point of impact shifts with power changes. I simply put it on 10X, zero, leave it there, and I'm good for the season. I'll step up to a better scope when the tax refund comes in.

I use regular centerfire scopes. Just figure out what power puts it on at 100. My 2x7 vortex's shoot dead on at 50 and at 6x they are right on at 100 on the second dot down, the 1st is really close at 75. most of my shooting is 50 to 100 yds.

I just picked up a Leupold 2x7 VXI for my CZ452. Decent scope, nice and light. Sets up well on the CZ.

Same here. The 22 rifles that get used the most, all have inexpensive one inch "center fire rifle" scopes w/AO on them.

My favorite, is the Tasco 3.5x10x42AO with mildot reticle (about $55). That scope had been on a 223 for years, never a problem with it, through thousands of rounds and heaps of dead woodchucks.

I now use that 22 rifle some times for our indoor winter CMP three position shoots, which are on a 50 foot range. Had an old Weaver V12 w/AO on it for years, but when we started the indoor shoots it was useless, since it only focuses down to 15 yards.

I can focus the Trashco perfectly for 50 feet and set it at 6X, which is the maximum power allowed for the CMP matches. Had to rotate it 90 degrees CCW so the target turret didn't interfere with ejection, but also no problem.

Dialed it in once, haven't touched it since.

If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.
