It still boggles my mind that the Flag of the United States of America is not welcome everywhere within the USA. I cannot imagine what kind of "corporate-think" would decide it is inappropriate to display our nations flag. I won't argue with them, it is their business and their choice to deny the Kiwanis the right to use the US Flag during a ceremony, but it is our right to tell Olive Garden to stick up their ass.

Red Lobster is another branch of the parent company. My wife likes both. I don't care for either. With this baloney I'm going to avoid both. Believe it or not locally some people consider both places "fine dining." Guess they don't get around much.

I am Italian, and Olive Garden food isn't...... Me, too....correct on all counts. That stuff ain't Italian food. With the flag stuff tacked on top of that, another reason to avoid it.

I ate at one once in the late 80's or early 90's. What ever the food was like it didn't leave a strong enough impression to last all that time.

We have one in the city I live in.. don't go there. Have been to others when I used to live in other places. Nothing memoriable to make me go back. I can make a better pasta dinner and feed several people for what one of their so-so meals cost. Now as they are anti American.. I have another reason to justify my reluctance to do business with them.

let's not all abandon Darden Restaurants. I get a very nice monthly pension from those guys At one time in my life, I worked 10 years managing Red Lobster Restaurants.

I don't go to a restruant to have the flag waved at me or to listen to somebody being sung happy birthday to. I find the food consistantly good at Olive Garden. Seems to me that to have a club meeting they should have picked a place with a private room.

No great loss. No Italian-American would eat there anyway.

They own Longhorn Steakhouse also, tell me it isn't true. The wife likes three of Darden's restaurants, OG, RR, LHSH. I've had lunch at all three it wasn't bad and it was quick.

but now I'll start deliberately boycotting them.
That'll show 'em! Quit giving them the money they weren't getting anyway!

never darkened the door of an "Olive Garden"....we have too many real good Eye-Tie restaurants here to bother with the strip mall imitations.
but now I'll start deliberately boycotting them. We've got a surprising number of good, authentic Italian restaurants around here. A lot of migrants from the Balkans settled in southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma and southwest Missouri to work in the mines. They are hell on chicken too.

i feel fortunate that the demographics of where i live simply don't support those kinds of restaurants... if we want italian, we go to one of several italian owned and operated places in the area... perna's, angelo'a, and al & leda's... or if we want high brow cuisine (anniversary or date night) we can drive 20 minutes to daysville and eat at la vigna...

New Orleans had massive Italian and Sicilian immigration starting about 120 years ago, so we have every kind of Italian food. One of my favorites, Vincent's,which happens to be close to my house which is probably why it's my favorite, was the first real sit down restaurant to reopen after the storm. people were lined up to eat on paper plates with plastic forks and drink bottled drinks, since the water still wasn't good to wash dishes with or drink. You'd see everybody you knew who was back in town in the line at Vincent's.
