Another convert.

Like to know more about that gun.

EG or G with a Stith? Caliber? Guessing 300 by the length of the barrel

It's a 1948'ish 300EG with 7/8 Stith and Norman-Ford "Texan" 4x scope. I bought it several years ago and the scope wouldn't hold a group so I took the Stith off and kind of forgot about it. I set everything back up this year and was determined to buy an Alaskan if the Texan was no good. Eventually, I figured out that the set screw going into the rear dovetail needs to be tight....Now it shoots under 1".

What is that white stuff on the ground in your pic? Temp was lows 70s here last Sat. when I was hunting. I think I got a slight sun burn.

Not a lot of snow when we started but we were blessed with a couple of inches after opening day. Here is a shot from my stand!

Got soaked the first three days and used a lot of snake oil but Saturday was nice and my son got his 8 point 30 minutes after I shot baldy. One shot each from a pair of 250-3000's.

Here is another one to add to the thread.
My son normally shoots a 99C .308.
This year he used the 99 I took my deer with. He is now the fourth generation to take a deer with this 99 .250-3000.

Shot a Pennsylvania doe with my Model E 308...Bought this 99 cheap years ago and re-did the stock, cut the stock and added a but-pad, put a Leupold VXI 3x9 on it, with the screw-in scope caps and use this one as my bad weather 99.....(This 99 has one of the nicest birch stocks I've ever seen)

Got this fella on Thanksgiving morning and had to sink to my knees and thank the Good Lord for land to hunt on and Whitetail venison and my .300 Savage!

Good hunting to everyone out there! I live near Chicago, but get up to SW Wisconsin and took this guy and a younger one so far this year. Man we enjoy the meat and also the huntin! Take care. By the way, my .300 Savage is made in 1941. Scope added later on. One shot from a factory Remington load 180 grain soft points did their job!

Wicked set of horns....Congrats. What scope mounts are you using? Looks like a very low scope mount on your EG.

Damn fine buck. The rack color seems dark brown.

Just paging through this thread and saw that 250T even before I saw Drew's post!

Good eyes Drew. grin

And nice gun! Might want to hold onto that one for a while wink
