A crew cab from that era with a cummins and a manual trans... air lockers, Dana 60's front and back... oh to dream.

Only one I have right now is my 2006 Chevy 2500HD Diesel. My beater 1987 S-10 has laid down with a fuel pump failure.

A good friend of mines father had a '79 F-250, 351M, 4 speed, 4.10 gears. He bought it new. When I turned 16 in 1990 I wanted his truck or one just like it. One day out of the blue, he decided to sell it and bought a 1990 F-150. He sold for $1500. Which was a steal. It had low miles and was in very good shape. It was a real heavy duty truck. If I would have bought it, I'd still have it today.

I had a '86 Dodge Ramcharger. I sold it to a guy I worked with. He had it for a year or so and wanted to sell it. My uncle is a die hard Mopar man, still has the '67 GTX 440, 4 speed and '69 Super Bee 440 Sixpac, it was T/F 727 car, he put a Hemi 4 speed in it. Had a '76 Dodge Power Wagon. So I told him the Ramcharger was for sale. Be bought it, then wrecked it a few years later.

A few years ago I wanted to build a nice off road truck. He was going to give me the Ramcharger. It has a 360, 4 speed NP 435 trans., NP 208 t-case, 9 1/4" limited slip rear end, Dana 44 limit slip front end with 3.21 gears, which were to high. First truck I ever saw with a limited slip in the front though. It was a tank!

I was going to rebuild all the drive train components and put them in a short box Dodge pick up to make a awesome off road/hunting truck. I was going to build a small block 408 stroker motor to make tons of torque from off idle to 4500 to 5000 RPM. Rebuild the NP 435 trans. and NP 208 t-case. Rebuild the rear end with a Detroit Locker and rebuild the front end was either another limited slip or air locker front diff. and go with 4.10 gears because it didn't have over drive. I wanted a nice truck that sat on 35 inch tires and could be really good off road. However, here in New Yorkistan there really isn't to many places to do any serious off roading. So I wouldn't get to use the truck that much.

I decided to buy another '78 Camaro. Figured I'd get way more use out of the car. I built a small block 385 stroker motor (350 block .040" over with a 400 3.75" stroke crank) with Vortec heads, it makes 325 to 350 HP and 400 plus FT. LBS. of Torque. It makes power off idle to 5600/5800 RPM. Had the TH350 rebuilt and put a 11" Coan Convertor in it. I had the rear end rebuilt with 3.42 gears and a Yukon Dura Grip Posi Unit (limited slip). The car runs great. The drive train has been totally rebuilt. Now we have to do the body and interior.

I'll do an off roader sometime, NYH1!

I could do a lot with the "Quail Wagon". Thats my kind of truck. The sky could be the limit on that. Nice truck, for sure!

I found you one with everything on the list except the cummins and the air locker. Sometimes I think I should have gotten it myself, but I don't have a good record on finishing projects that big.

How it looked from Feb. to August... Montucky roads for ya, sheeeeesh. It's all fine and dandy until you realize your 4x4 Ford with chains on all 4 won't get to town...and there's water surrounding your house.

Heres my hunting rig, been hunting and crawled the hills of Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. Fishing in Canada and of course wherever I need to go in Minnesota.

Yeah, but maintenance is a little more labor intensive! (I am jealous--I gave up my mule when we moved to town.)

Ya know, It just occurred to me that I'd shoot a horse but I'm not so sure I could shoot a mule or a donkey.

Obviously you have never been around feral donkeys. I spent a night on the Black Gap WMA over in Texas at a place along the river they call Las Vegas de los Ladrones (Outlaw Flats). You couldn't sleep at night for the braying of the feral burros. By morning, I would have gladly wasted any that showed.
