A friend's 38 Super serial # 77...unfired ...and you are probably holding $5K in your mitts.... A friend has serial number 1000....he bought it at from Sheriff Jim Wilson, as in the gun writer, back in the mid-1980s at a gun show near Dallas. Wilson later mentioned that gun in an article about guns he should have never sold... Bob

Prettiest Combat Commander I have ever seen...high polished HARD CHROME, not nickel..... 1956 .38 Super Commander, BarSto barrel, BoMar rear sight, tritium dot front, hard chrome frame...one of the best shooters I have ever owned... My first Super bought in 1980...unfired 1969 GM. Most inaccurate gun I ever owned...groups of 3'..that is FEET at 50 yards. Had a BarSto barrel fitted and the groups went to 3" with the same box of ammo... Carried on duty 1980-81... Over the years it collected a lot of trophies... Bob

Bob, You're a man of discriminating taste---I love all three of those guns---very nice pieces. Is the polished chrome Commander a factory finish????

More gun porn.... sigh......
Really loving this thread, hope it can continue. Guessing we might have most of 'em out of the woodwork now, though.
That high polish hard chrome..... nice!

I love that rounded butt. My protection trio. Pic of big and little brother also. 12-gauge, .45ACP, 9mm.

Bob, You're a man of discriminating taste---I love all three of those guns---very nice pieces. Is the polished chrome Commander a factory finish???? ...no someone had that done.... Accurate Plating has three grades of finish for hard chrome... matte, satin and high polish...it just depends on what you want to pay. Bob

I know how you feel! Before this thread, I thought my Delta Elite was the ultimate 1911. Still love it, and it will be close to an ultimate 1911 after a good freind from here finishes with the trigger, (has all new Wilson guts already) but now I want pretty grips and to polish the stainless steel to high gloss! And some night sights, and a lazergrip, and.......

Glad to hear it. Good to see you around here more. I used to frequent McManns Roadrunner gun shows down that way a lot, before buying and selling as a private party became illegal. That is about the time I moved up here, btw. I still have lots of reloading supplies with sale prce tags from Simms Hardware and The Old Sacramento Armory. Both on J street in old downtown Sacramento. Remember THOSE icons of shooters nirvannah? Blessings, MARK
