Playing with a new production M70 Extreme Weather in .308 and so far so good except the trigger is set at about 5#. Anyone have any clue on what the best way to remove the glue/epoxy (?)they use to seal up the adjustment scews?
Thanks,

I used a knife to cut thru the sealer and scrape it off, then dug sealer out of screw with a small sharp pick. Just the bottom screw. After adjusting, sealed it with blue Lok Tite. Clear finger nail polish would work. Be careful, according to the manual, the screw falls out at 3 lbs.

Thanks. I was afraid there would be some scaping and digging involved. There's no shortage of that nasty stuff on my trigger!
I need to see if there is an online version of the manaual. Got mine used so I don't have one.

Yes thanks found it here: http://media.winchesterguns.com/pdf/om/07_361_model70.pdfNeedless to say they dont' bother mentioning the expoxy Anyway stuck a pointed end of a knife under the edge and gave it a soft tap. Off it came and used a pick to dig out the screw head. 3# does seem to be the lower limit but that's much better than what it was and is fine for hunting.

I've had trouble getting all the epoxy out of the inside of the set screw so I heated the tip of the tiny little hex-head screwdriver with a match and it melted right down into the screw head. Didn't stay stuck in there, came right out after adjusting the trigger pull weight.

This is an old thread but, for any newcomers to the M70 M.O.A. trigger, like me...yup--I found that heat helps a lot too. After scraping and prying the blob off the heads with a utility knife and a tiny flathead screwdriver blade, I used a fine-tipped Weller soldering pencil on maximum heat, followed up with the allen wrench to clear the hex head cavities. PITA! What's wrong with Loctite, BACO/FN?

Dissolve it with Jasco paint remover, the one with methylene chloride. Paint it on and let it work, blow it off with spray carburetor cleaner and repeat if needed.
Works on glass bedding too!
