Gunner,I have to admit that the 50-110 would be just fine in the hands of Dan. Me next!

You bet portsider, I have no doubt that 50 caliber 525 gn LBT heat treated lead flat nosed bullet at 2200 fps would put a buff on his butt wink

A 525gn "solid" for all logical reason at 2200 ft/ sec is the ticket for dangerous game.

I am booking two weeks next year so I can drive down without racing, and bring back dead pig to eat. The whole old military with bayonet affixed is one of the "gonna be there" rifles. It will be a real Canadian historically correct Lee Enfield. Gunner you will appreciate the calibre is 303.

I think I read 80 quart cooler per butchered pig to transport. Do you use dry ice down there?

I relished reading all the accounts of what I missed. Really happy for you all.

Randy

Didn't see any dry ice. I always had best when I just had the meat CHILLED. Did that wid my Newfie moose and it is LOTS easier to keep cold than to risk thawing. Every gas station you find has ice for sale. Freeze it when ya get home.

Randy:

You'll need an historically correct uniform, in that case. For the hero pic.

I will wear Canuck camo...blue jeans andt-shirt. you can hide anywhere in Canada with that gear. Except in winter when the Hydro parka is over the t-shirt. smile

Here's to think'n about all the members of the boar hunt. Man! I never thought you could pack so many good men in one place,I can't wait 'till next year. Best regards to Steve,Gunner,Dan and all the other great guys that make a hunting trip special. Hell, I feel sad for regular folks that don't know what they're missing out on. Hell, I feel worse when the young folk don't have someone to show them the light. Believe it or not,my Wife and I have spent many, many hours teaching kids and adults in the safe handling and shooting firearms, what( Evil twin)calls "Thunder stick". That adds up to a lot of missed game and even Fish!
Best regards to all,
Portsider.

Actually, this hunt was interesting in the number of old rifles used to take pigs. Gunners' .303 double, the Winchester 32 spl,the flinter at the mansion, my Sharps....OLD timey calibers really showed how they carried the day and the mail didn't they!?

Thanks for the kind words but, Gunner shooting a double .303,Evil twins Sharps,Dan stalking with a Bow? And of course, the patients of a flintlock. Not to mention ,7x57steve,shooting the venerable .30-40 Craig. Damn! I was there when BEA175 shot his hog with that 6.8....
....Nothing but the sound of a hog crumbling. We all had fun.

If any of you fellas is near Mass.,give me a holler,we have room and I know the best places to eat and drink-however,I am a good cook.

very cool time. Look forward to doing it again next year smile Be interesting to see what sort of contraption(s) I can bring.

The lodge did a nice job on the sausage. I still have the hams left; might take them to Quemado smile
