Thanks for asking.

Not too many buy the paperback anymore. It's all "Kindle" and "Nook" and "Ipad". It's killing author profits but increasing circulation dramatically. Still, independent authors put a lot of trash out there too. Poorly edited and with poor writing ability to start with.

I love paperbacks, but the Kindle makes so much sense. For $80 the cheapest Kindle is a steal and it will hold hundreds of books at one time. When I travel, I can take one Kindle and have access to more books than I can read. Lately I have been catching up on free books that I read as a kid and want to read again.

Heck, the local library has even started downloading current bestsellers on Kindle. Two weeks later they just disappear. That means only one trip to the library-not two.

I wanted to resurrect this thread because Dan knows how to write a damn fine western novel, and some Campfire members might now know that yet.

I just finished reading The Long Shooters in two days (very fast for me) finishing at 3:45am this morning because I HAD to find out how it ended.

Please keep up the great writing Dan, I'm hooked now. smile

The review you posted on Amazon was one of the best it's received and it's gotten 128 five star reviews! Thanks again.

My pleasure Dan...........as was reading your novel.

I hope you keep the blinders on and don't pick up any new time-intensive hobbies. You're a darned good writer, and I want more to read. smile

Only one I read is the rogue indian one. Guess I need to look back for the shooters one. I thought it was pretty good and I am really critical.

I have read two novels by Gene Hackman lately, one better than average and one pretty lousy; he's a better actor than writer

Dan,

Well, I somehow missed this thread back in 2012. I'm glad it got kicked back up!

As a result of reading this entire thread, I have ordered both The Long Shooters and Battle Of Fortune Wells (Kindle versions).

I'm really looking forward to reading them!

Sincerely,

Dan,

I just ordered your second book in paperback. I am confident that I will enjoy it as much as the first. You are a talented writer that very effectively paints a scene in my mind as I read. This, plus attention to detail, makes your writing especially enjoyable to me. Thanks for your work.

I have to admit, when I write, I do so with an eye toward what shooters/hunters/history nuts will know to be authentic. The late, great Louis L'Amour knew a lot about history and the West, and he knew a lot of obscure gun names, but he wasn't so much a shooter/hunter and it showed in a lot of his books. That's not to say he'd never shot or hunted, but it wasn't a passion of his. I've always wanted shooters and outdoorsmen to appreciate authenticity.

Thanks again.

Dan
