My son has a remington 700 300RUM and has shot factory 180gr Scrocco's in it. Very accurate. The problem I have is that I wanted to reload some of this once fired factory brass. (100 pieces) It is no good. Primer pockets are so loose that I can place a primer on the table and seat them by just pressing the brass lightly down by hand. Are the factory loads that hot? Have bought some new brass to load and they seem fine. Will have to re-evaluate reloading for this rifle if the brass will have to be scrapped after one shot. What kind of case life are others experiencing? I realize it's not going to last like my 308 but wow.

I have run into this also from early lots of Remington brass. I threw mine away.

Buy some new Remington brass and start loading. If you can find federal brass use that or if you can afford Nosler use that.

I have gotten six to eight loadings on my Remington brass before the neck cracks.

Ive seen the same thing in factory loads in both 7RUM and 338RUM. So far I have 6 loads on factory new Remington hulls in my .338 RUM. They are pushed very hard and still going strong

Had this problem in some older Rem lots but not for a long while now. What primer are you using? You might be able to use a different primer and get at least a second or third load out of that brass. Some primers are just a tad thicker or bigger. I'm up to 5 loads in some brass that I still have and they aren't ready to be trashed yet.

Good question. I've had similar issues with a 308Win and some unplated Winchester primers years ago. The plated ones were okay. You could seat the unplated primers by hand against a table top, stick the case neck in my mouth and blow them out again.
