Interesting topic.

My favorite is a three reed cutter I make.
Also have two two reed cutters I like. I enjoy using one alot more now that I been building them on my own.

Can't wait to make some new ones once the season is over here.

If you hunted with Ben Lee you hunted with the best, I loved his mouth calls, never knew him , but do know Eddie Salters another barber and excellent caller from Coffeeville, AL.

As you stated if you are a good woodsman, you call kill a turkey.

And the bad thing is no one is going to lend you one for a trial run smile I truly think that most of the time any call will work and knowing when and how much or little to call is vastly more important. I've called a fair number of birds to the gun by mouth with no call (and at times, as in duck calling, I believe it's more effective).

I've been lucky enough to hunt with some super turkey hunters, spent a fair amount of time with Ben Lee in the '70's (my brother shot his first turkey while leaning against Ben's belly when he was 14) and what they were the very best at was being a good woodsman first (knowing terrain and what turkeys tend to do in certain places) and calling next.

I can't keep from carrying a bunch of calls though. Just in case.
