So what's your point? That ARs are for kids and real men only use "FALs?"
Whatever.

For $850 it's a screaming deal, for $1975 not so much.

I love FALs, but for the outrageous prices they command, currently, I'm looking more at thee PTR91 GI.

Periodically, DSA gets in runs of guns made from STG58 parts kits, they are VERY accurate IME and function %100. I only sold mine cause I wanted a para. My STG58 was an MOA rifle with a 4x scope. Those STG guns sell for about $1200.

I had a fixed stock FAL made by Imbel and imported by Springfield I bought used back in 1999. I had it for about 3 years. It was surprisingly accurate using the open sights and a rest. The dust cover precluded any optics mounting on it that I could figure out. I sold it for what I paid for it $1000.00 to a fellow with a strong back and a weak mind that watched too many zombie movies. I have a Kimber montana in 308 with a Minox 3-9 scope on it that weights maybe 7 pounds with 4 cartridges in it. If I need to carry something to shoot a 308 cartridge, its not going to be a 10 pound rifle with 4 pound loaded magazines, zombies be damned, they will just have to take what I give them and be happy with it even if its only 22 caliber.

would rather have a M-14 then the FAL, but for now i will keep the AR over both.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

How many bought FAL's? Take an M14 and drag it across the ground for about 500yd (think sniper stalk) and let me know how well it runs. BTDT.

Maybe you just need a good barbell.

Whatever. No offense intended brother! Just some friendly jocularity.

didn't realize the AR was not effective. Hey! I need to say thanks to you specifically and everyone else on this board who has patiently answered my questions in the last 2 weeks. I sincerely appreciate it. I am not that smart about AR15's as y'all can tell. Once you start looking at the AR world closely it is like learning an entire new trade. Lots o little details that are not intuitively obvious to the novice. Again... Thanks y'all

as far as I am concerned an FAL is a barbell. Can't do power cleans with it, not enough spin. A Pendlay is much better. When you get to where you can power clean your body weight for reps, wielding that FAL won't be much of an issue.

I lift heavy things at work all day long and I'm in pretty good shape for an old man. I own a couple of 10#+ rifles and carry them all day long when I want to.
Problem is I don't want to that often. Give me a light weight carbine and I'm happy. If I want to carry a heavy gun, I'll have a specific use in mind.

This is why I'm sort of stuck on AR's and don't know anything about AK's or FAL's. Good on you for learning what you can about something new.
