That .280 is simply beyond any words I have to give an accolade to it, you and Mr. Green, whom I had the pleasure of dealing with some twenty years ago. It is absolute perfection and I would love to own it and hunt it.

The .270 kind of reminds me of my 1910 Mexican in 6.5x55 which I stocked some years ago. laugh

Hello WHitebird...is there any chance you could post more pictures of the Model 21, particularly of the right side and the peep sight.

Regards.

There are many fine examples of custom work here. However, the Pete Grisel .280 is to me the best looking rifle on 24hcf.

EdM, That double square bridge integration is crazy. Never saw anything quite exactly like it. Does that set-up have a name? Sweet. CB

Terry,

Sorry I missed your question on the safety. As I bought the rifle used I have no idea. I had been considering a lightweight 7x57 build and just could not pass this rifle up when I found it. I do know via email exchange with Mr. Wisner that he built the rifle many years ago and stocked it in mannlicher fashion in black walnut. Short of the Shilen barrel and Swede action, all of the metal was made by him. I particularly like the quarter rib treatment over the receiver ring mounting one of his fine rings. Somewhere along the way the original stock was replaced by the one you see that Fred Speiser crafted. As it is a bit "clubby" compared to the metal, the rifle is currently at Dean Zollinger's for a some "diet" work on the stock. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Sir,

The action is one of 50 built by Pete Grisel prior to his involvement in the development of the Dakota action with Don Allen. This particular one is serial number 49. I have only see one other for sale but it was stocked with a 13" LOP capped with a 1" pad so I passed hoping I would find another. I eventually did.

Ed, Very appealing. I'm looking to upgrade, just never bump into higher end customs around here. Care to share some sort of value range just in case a similar Grisel drops into my lap? Ray

North to well north of 5k depending upon the quality of the build and the maker's name.

a boy can dream can't he.... my problem is the reality is just that much harder as I am left handed...

They were listed at Julias a few auctions back... I just liked the picture so much that I copied it off...that bottom gun would be about as good as it could get for me... that piece of walnut is just something incredible and the full length rib...the unique checkering pattern... the whole deal for me...
