I am looking at purchasing a 2 dog collar system for my shorthairs. I have looked at several systems but would like to hear what others are using and liking. Tritronics? DT systems? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would only look at TriTronics and Dogtra collars and pick the one you like best.

I`ve used a two collar Dogtra on my pack for almost four years. I have the set with the audable beepers. I put the collars on different hounds, every trip to the field. One beep from either collar, and the whole pack is at my feet.
Multaflora, water, mud, and the occasional chewing by a pack mate hasn`t put a dent in them.

I am looking at both. I have read a lot of good stuff about Dogtra, leaning towards that model.

I've had a two-dog Dogtra, the 2002 NCP, for nine years. Just wore out the battery of the transmitter, the first issue I've had (pretty good for battery life).

Mine has the page function, as well as the stimulation. I'd recommend them highly.

Tri Tronics Pro 100, 3 dogs system, also has tone button you can train as warnig or good boy button. 2 buttons give different levels & one that is Nick, without even changing to higher setting.

Watch which units have continous stimulus, or not. There is a difference in units on what the buttons acutally do, though they look the same. How you can increase levels. You want good solid clicks so you don't dial up too easy & too far. I was always afraid of the side dial button for that reason.

You Can easily turn off so no unintentional stimulus or I just carry mine on one of the 3 collar toggle positions that is not in use, then flip it down to use it.

The battery life is really good on this unit & range is great. Can always buy a spare collar (3rd if you are running 2 dogs) in case one goes dead or a problem shows up with one of them you are running. Can buy beeper add on, even lighted units if running coons or the like at night.

I have dogra 2502 TB. Have friends I hunt with that have them also. I used other collars and I absolutely love these ones. Had for at least 4-5 seasons now, hunt hot, cold, wet. Never a problem. Did notice last year that the locate range is not as far as it used to be and may have to look at new batteries? But think that is normal. I also use them as yard collars when dogs are outside so they have been well used. Other friends have different models but I like the size of the transmitter better.

That's what I've used on the beagles for the past few years.

Do the Dogtra systems operate on an FM band which is suppose to be better for distance? My dogs don't hunt at great distances, but I guess could be something to consider just in case? Thoughts?
