I'm surprised there hasn't been getting tube feeds for a while now... was she getting TPN (total parenteral nutrition) for a while? Most intensivists want to get nutrients into the patient a.s.a.p.

Good morning all. I got a good nights sleep last night and ready to head back to the hospital.it has been an eventful couple of days. I had to have a come to Jesus meeting with her doctors and convince them that we couldn't wait any longer and had to get a feeding tube into Linda to get her some nourishment and she has had no food for a month now. The tube was placed yesterday afternoon and this morning there will be a consult with the nutritionists to plan a feeding program. This is the only way that she can get any strength back so that she can continue to fight. Wish her luck the next day or two is going to be a turning .1, where the other for Linda. At this point she has no bowel sounds and if we cannot wake her stomach up at this point her options are limited. We had the chance of a family in her bedside yesterday and prayed with Linda and that has given her strength. Linda still cannot speak but I have told her about the good wishes and prayers. You are giving her and she gave us one of her big smiles in response. I know the support you guys are giving her means the world to her and to me as well. Okay guys, here we go. More later, Bear Bear - that makes a lot of sense. A big part of her getting her strength back is getting fuel in her. Tell Linda there a whole lot of us pulling for her. Sometime this evening, this thread will surpass the 10,000 views and there presently are over 260 replies. I log on whenever I can to see if there is an update. My wife's name is Linda too. We have been together over 30 years and I feel what you are going through down to my core. By the way, is she overcoming her infection?

No TPN as they stated it was a possible new infection site. NG tube was tried in icu but they sid she did not tolerate it but, with no explanation. I am sitting here watching her struggle to breath. she is asleep an not aware of me. She is so tired from the chf and albumin and lasix diminished her kidney function. They are trying to get her strong enogh over night to use a needle to pull some of the fluid from her chest so she can breath. God help her. Bear

Thanks Guys. At this point the one thing she has on her side besides me is the fact that she is a fighter. Just a minute ago she woke for a minute but could barley shake her head to respond to a question and just as fast she was asleep again. God willing toorrow they can get her breathing better. Linda just took a huge turn for the worse this morning. They tried draining fluid from one of her lungs so she could breathe and she reacted poorly to it. She is having more difficulty breathing and is having heart issues now as well. If she makes it for the next 24 hours......Bear
