Chime in w/your fav 6mm hunting round, OTHER than the typical 243 and 6mm.
The above are 2 great rounds in their own right no doubt. Curious about the others. Do tell of your rifle specs and any info on your bullet/powder choices.
Aalf and others, I know you have experience so chime in if you can on your experience w/any feedback, range or field success.

Hopefully darrenK will see this post. He has/had a 6mmBR that he used this year on antelope & it did really bad things to them. I think he is a big fan of the 6mmBR. Me I go for the old .243:)

I've run both those two, but want to try something new, 'next time' both great rounds and I know they have reach in the field, easily thru deer and I know many elk fall also.

I got a 6BR, have had two, and a 6x47L. The 6x47 is a non-feed issue..I like them both but if I had to have just one it would be the 6x47L.

My new favorite is on the low end of the spectrum -- 6x45. I sat beside my daughter and watched her dispatch two deer rather efficiently this year. No bells and whistles, no warp speed, it just worked extremely well. This wouldn't be my choice for long range, but I feel comfortable using it on a deer out to 200ish yards. Mine is a 700 with a stainless Douglas barrel. It's in a McMillan Mountain Rifle stock currently. I plan on it seeing lots of field time in years to come....
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

6x47L about my favorite case out there. I like the small primers, makes for a very thick and tough case head. It is very hard to loosen the primer pockets in those cases.

Short action - had a TCU in 21" Bullberry in mid 90s, loved it, but went BR later for longer range. TCU or 45s sure are quiet, and mild mannered, inc. ears. FUN to shoot, cheap...free brass!
Eddy - sounds like Geraci has rubbed off on you. Can you speak to the 47 over the XC, as to brass life, as I know Lapua, but not much about the Norma XC.
Maybe Aalf can chime in on his latest results w/his Dasher, set up as a repeater IIRC.
Recall Speedy Gonzales sending me a few emails, and pics of a friend using the 47L, 115s were DEATH to Tx Hogs....seems they shoot like lasers.

I love the 6-250. It shoots little bug holes w/ smaller varmint bullets and sub-MOA groups w/ big game bullets like the the 90 NBT, 100 CL, and even 95 gr VLD.

6mm-204, one of my go to coyote calling rigs. 58gr V-max and 55gr NBT's both leaded and unleaded DRT and usually a decent pelt. 55gr at 3700fps
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I'm kind of a 6 fan. I have a 6x47, 6MM Wasp, 2, 243 Ackley's, 2, 243 Winchesters, a 6MM Ackley, a 6MM BR, and 2, 6-284's. Depending on what you shoot a 6-284 fills a lot of needs.
I got to spend last weekend in western North Dakota with a pretty dedicaed 6.5-284 shooter, killing a few coyotes, I think the next rifle he builds just might be a 6-284.

Interesting thread, as I'm sitting on a 6mm 8-twist barrel right now, and still undecided as to what to build.
I have a standard face bolt, so was thinking 6BR.
I also have a small bolt face, so thinking 6x45 or 6x47 on that action. (I'm also thinking of using that action for another 223, non-AI version, so there's a lot of the indecision right now).
Anybody care to comment on those last two (6x45 and 6x47) specifically compared against each other?
In my case, it will be one of those three.

I have had fun the last few years with the 6mm-284. Made two. One is heavy (20 lbs) with a 28" Bartlein 5R 1 in 7.5 twist. The other is a lightweight Rem 700 rechambered 24" 243 Win. The heavy shoots the newish 105 Berger target hybrid 3400 fps, the lightweight shoots the 55 gr nos bt at 4175 fps. Used Lapua brass. Have a second Bartlein 5R 1 in 8 twist waiting for the heavy barrel to die. It has close to 1000 rounds and still going strong.

I lub me some 6mmBR. However, when feeding is a concern, I will look elsewhere. It does perform well though on medium-sized game. I've out the hurt on a number of Antelope with that cartridge, and with the right bullet it is wicked.
I have a new tube screwed on to one of my rifles in 6XC. Can't wait to see how it performs.

My favorite 6mm target round is the 6mm Rem. International. Bought a new 40X in the 60's so chambered, wore out the barrel and had a new barrel put on with the same chamber and 1-10" twist and restocked it with the stock shown below. The rifle was/is used for 200 yd. and 300 meter position target shooting. http://www.reloadbench.com/cartridges/w6mm250.html
All guns should be locked up when not in use!
