Ran across this cartridge the other week.

http://www.6mmar.com/Super_LR.html

Looks like a well thought out set up.
Anybody tried one of these ?

I did some reading on the 6mmcrusader over at snipers hide -that too looks real good .
I have a 22-250 that Mickey Coleman built for me -I just can't get excited w/it = 1-12tw barrel should have at least went w/a 1-8tw and shoot 75-80gr amax or vld's.
Anyway planning on rebarreling it to a 6mm of some type.
Good thread !
Mike

As far as hunting, I've worked with a couple 6 Rems and liked them, but my 6-06 is gaining fast. 257Wby style trajectory with little recoil.

The two 6mm's in my stable are the 6x47 (the original one, .222 Rem Mag necked up) and the 6-284.
Still building the 6-284 but the 6x47 is an impressive cartridge for its size and recoil.

That's another cartridge I've thought about building .
Have a CZ 527 221fb that I love-so thought about getting a 7.62x39 carbine and making it a 6ppc coyote calling rig.
Just too busy.

I have a few 6mm Rems that I like a lot, along with a few 243 Wins that I like too.

However...

I am in the middle of having a 6mm BR and a 6x47 built right now as well.

I was set on the 6BR, but my gunsmith buddy was set on the 6x47.

So.... after too much thinking and rationalizing, I shipped him an extra action and extra barrel, and quit worrying about it. laugh

Well, I'm kinda surprised the 243 WSSM hasn't been mentioned. Then again, maybe not with the undeserved bad rap the WSSM cartridges have been given. I'm sure most who subscribe to the poor reputation haven't owned one.

I have a factory A-Bolt in 243 WSSM. Varmint Stalker. It has been one of the most accurate rifles in the safe, including customs. My longest kill to date is with the 243 WSSM and it continues to smoke schitt way out there. It's a 10 twist factory barrel (Chromed). When it dies, a 7 or 8 twist WSSM should be the ticket for sending 105's or 115's

Same case capacity as the 243 Winchester, one grain less than the 6mm Remington, yet produces 100 to 200 fps more velocity.

It's my dedicated coyote rifle but I've killed everything from prarie dogs to mule deer with it.

Nice pics/hunts, good posts by all.

Never not liked a WSSM performance, wish they had done them in a 6.5, they look pretty cool. Brass supply was my only concern.

Heard the initial reports on poor bore life was later found correlated to lack/improper cleaning.

What are your thoughts in a .243 AI vs .243 WSSM? I don't know a whole lot about either one but the 6mms are the next group of cartridges i'm looking to learn about and i'de love to sponge up as much information as I can! Thanks

Keep your barrel builder's phone # on speed dial..

Especially if you are planning on a high volume rd count rifle...

My 6BR has 7K+ rds down the tube and still going strong...

the 38 gr charge 6XC is running just fine too..not quite 7K rds...yet

One thought also is to consider cost of brass & dies for the project

My first 6BR and also a 6TCU in 12t. All 6mm since, 8t.

Last shot BOTH 66/68s into 1/4" at 200 yds for 3 shots, AND did the same w/105 Amax's.

Never again will I build a 6mm w/anything other than an 8 twist, just proven to do whatever I need done. No doubt, my 12t BR shot TNTs tight, 4 of 5 in 1.5" at 415 yds...nothing wrong w/that for my shooting...but I LIKE the option of shooting bullets over 85/87s.
