What a weekend. Friday night 1 stand late and coyote hangs up at 495 yds. 1 shot right through the lungs. Saturday morning by noon 7 dogs down. The last 4 were the real story. Sat down over looking a little bowl that I knew a pack of dogs has been hanging around. Snuck in and sat down and started calling. For some reason in this real open country not very responsive to calling. Rancher hasn't had the cattle in thier much so grass is layed over from storms but lets the coyotes lay down in the grass and very hard to see.
First dog starts walking out and gets to 400 yds. I hit him and down he goes. 2nd one starts out behind him just walking and looking around. Gets to 375 and down he goes. 3 and 4 start sneaking out and get to 325 and I knock down another. 4 stands there to look at 3 and doesn't move, I miss and he goes to 350 and stops and I put him down. 4 coyotes, 5 shots all between 325 and 400 yds. Have never seen coyotes just walk out when the shooting starts, usually like a covey of quail and just bust out everywhere. I could see them just looking around trying to figure out what was going on.
