That's a good idea... Hmmm...

Wonder what speeds a 75gr A-Max would get?

Travis

Had a 22-6mm. 3500 fps with 75 Amax in 24" barrel. Hornady has data for it in their book.

223 WSSM is really similar in case capacity to a 22-6mm, and higher in capacity than a 22-243. So looking that up will give ya some idea where to stop on a 22-243.

Go with a 22-6 if looking for the most from a 22 caliber. It will fit in a short action with a 75 Amax(Wyatt's length box), and won't have the weird throat burning issues the 243 is famous for (and worse necked to 22), due to the longer neck. Dies are readily available from Hornady for around $70.00.

That being said, build a 243 Ackley.

^ I'd take a 7.5 twist 6mm Rem and skip the fireforming.

6mm Remington and then go back to hunting

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

This suits me. I did my last Swift barrel in the AI, eliminated a lot of trimming. I also think there is a slight difference that the bolt is opened up for a Swift, so the .308 series might not be quite right. Anyone else remember this?

I WOULD STAY WITH THE 220.
MY RUGER 26 INCH BARREL GETS 4466 FPS WITH THE 40 GRAINERS
AND IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET 4750 FPS.

try the 63g Sierra with 4350 and a win primer. I restored accuracy with this bullet in several barrels due to the fact that it has a lot of bearing surface, and it kills like a sack of hammers!

4466 is doable, 4750 is going to put you square in the mid 70K pressure range which is doable but hell on brass and I would not do it in a ruger.

A 22/6.5x47 is a fun little round, runs right with the swift and you can not destroy that brass.

Eddie, this almost identical to the 22/250 AI, 6/250AI almost identical to the 6x47 Lapua.
