Here's a Ruger 77 Hawkeye .30-06 that's had a few things done. I wanted a 24" barrel, so I had a custom 24 incher (factory contour) fitted. Action was glassed, pillared and barrel channel floated. Trigger was set at 3 lbs, the bolt was Cera-Koted and the bolt body was engine-turned. I also had a 1" red Pachmayr Decellerator pad installed. I think it came out quite nice. Scope is a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8X in Warne double-lever mounts. Close to custom, without the price. Bob A good muzzle crown Warne double lever mounts and a Leupold 1" Pachmayr decellerator pad. Stock length is 13 3/4" Bolt was Cera Koted and bolt body engine turned

I like it. Was the action also cerakoted? Who did the work?
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

Bob The receiver was reblued? I believe so; it matches the matte-blued barrel perfectly. Maybe just the barrel was blued and the receiver is still factory. Bob

Looks good. Any shooting done with it yet? Yes. This one has definite likes and dislikes. I've only worked with factory loads so far, but Fed 180 grain NPs shoot superbly. It also likes Rem 150 grain Accupoints and 180 grain Rem Core-Lokts. Hornady factory 165 grain stuff is all over the paper, which surprised me. Bob 180 Grain Fed (Nosler Partitions)

5 180s in an inch should do just fine. Very nice.

Nice Rifle, I like it!
My .300 Win Mag Mod77 would look good with the red pad.

First post here after years of reading. Very nice rifle. I'm thinking of getting a lefty Ruger after shooting and owning nothing but right handed bolt rifles.

I've seen more well-shot game lost with TSXs than any other premium bullet.

What height are those Warnes? They look good.

I think they're medium, but there's no "low" height. I wish I could have gotten them just a tad lower, for looks sake. But it's not too bad. Bob

Yeah, I was thinking I'd probably want them a bit lower for cheek weld, from the photos. They are a nice looking alternative for a M77 though.
Again, nice rifle!

Again, nice rifle! Thanks! Actually, the comb height is fine. I just like the looks of a very low-mounted scope. This one growing on me, though. I simply enjoy shooting it; it travels with me to the range every time I go. Bob

I like it! I have a LH 77 I bought cheap sitting around waiting to be rebarrelled. I think I will do that to bolt handle. Thanks for the idea.

Very nice!
Your approach to this rifle is very close to mine. Taking a stock lefty, and applying relatively small tweaks to its form and function to suit my personal preferences, not a true custom job. I typically refinish all or part of the wood and metal, especially if it started with a high gloss. If it is from the white line era, those go. My term for this treatment is "classicizing", and I recently posted under Rimfire Levers my modifications of a Marlin 39A.
Just curious, why did you refinish your bolt handle?
Paul
