When in doubt, use a partition. It is still the bullet by which all others are measured.

For tough game a PT, or a solid like the Barnes TSX or TTSX. Next to those bonded core bullets are excellent as well.

I have killed several truck loads of hogs with a 55 NBT in a 223, but to answer your question - like others, a NP is never a bad answer.

Either bullet will kill any hog you'll encounter. The Sierras are much cheaper while the Partitions will likely waste less meat. Pick which ever one tickles your fancy or merely flip a coin. I'm sure you'll be happy with either one.

I take hunter on hog hunts on our lease in SC and see about 75-90 hunters a year. Hogs shot tight to the crease behind the front shoulder go down and never a problem. Shot back it kills them but usually dont find them. They are tough...vitals deep and low in the front of the chest. Shoulder shots mid to low they go down but why waste good meat. I tell everyone...use a gun from 222 and up and shootem in the head behind the ear or close to it and its bang flop.

I like and use partitions but in the hogs I've shot with them they left very small exit holes with little blood leaking. This from a 7x57 and the 140 gr. version. Best chest hit broadside is 2-3 inches above the hogs "elbow". A neck shot anywhere between the hogs ear and the point of his shoulder is also very good. I now shoot 150 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips and they work just fine. I did a big update by building a 35 Whelen and using it for my hog hunting. I get good blood trails virtually every time with this round. They are mostly very short and the 225-250 gr. bullets allow me to shoot them from more angles and still get good results.
