Powder scales are strictly "old School ." Now days, everybody counts kernels. Far more accurate.

The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

It's the 7828ssc kernels that take a while, but they do get counted. grin

Nice rifle, too! Let us know how it shoots.

Wouldn't Miss Kimberly be jealous?

Ackleyfan, it's a 10X fixed. I'll most likely put a lighter scope on once I get some loads dialed in.

Sorry about the late response, I was countin' kernels for accuracy, got two rounds all loaded up.

Ha ha, good one, but it's worth much more than that. I wouldn't let it go for under $150.

$175, I'll pick up shipping. I really need something to gaze at the moon with.

I don't use patches, I use Wipeout and let it sit overnight. I got this rifle for the 2014 deer season.

It takes 200 days for you to break one in?

Nah, it takes more than that since I can't shoot every day. I wouldn't shoot one without proper break-in.

I wasn't trying to be a dick with that post, but I was thinking I understood you to say you shoot one and clean, but you clean overnight, for the first 200 shots.

You are nothing, if not patient.

No worries, CT, it was just a joke anyway!!!! I subscribe to the break-it-in by shooting school of thought.

I am worried about the opener next year though, it don't look good for my Hokies.

Smoke has an entire stable of fine rifles that have yet to be fully broken in due to his exacting process. He does his actual hunting with a Kentucky long rifle owned by his great-grandfather that did not harvest its first head of game until 1913 when he first inherited it and used it to slay a 12 point whitetail and largish black bear with the same shot. His modern rifles are simply being developed in trust for later generations. A few may actually be deemed suitable for use by his grandchildren once they have completed the proprietary process. Most will only be usable in the field by great-grandchildren.

Looks great as always.

Hey smokepole, Im interested to hear about how the balance is and where the balance point is. The hunters edge is a light stock and the #2 Bartlein is one of the bigger #2 contours out there.

I am almost ready to order a barrel for an Edge is why I ask. Thank you and nice rifle!

Yup, it's a chunky barrel and a light stock and it's a little muzzle-heavy. It balances a little less than an inch in front of the front action screw, right at the receiver face.
