Chris, i dont see anything wrong with the forearm,i have a few carbines that have shrinkage similar to where the forearm meets the receiver, these regular style carbines and rifles didn't have the same tolerances as the special order ,special wood factory offerings. Don

Seems like rare, high condition guns are selling for more now than they ever did with special configurations and calibers considerably upping the ante.

Very nice Browning! The shirt factory Winchester businessman was a genius. Buy all of the J.M.B. designed/patented guns & keep them out of competitors hands. To think Winchester paid 8k for a combo deal on the 1885 & 1886 designs. Lots of money then, but would he have ever thought 1 rifle would sell for this?? Very nice indeed!!!

Condition is everything with these. At various times, I've owned 86 SRCs in most of the chamberings. My saddle rifle on my MT Ranch was an 86 SRC in 45-90. Back then they still brought a good bit more than the standard rifles. I've sold most but the 45-90 and a few 86 rifles now.

Don To me the wood condition does not match the metal condition? The dings and dents with no corresponding marks on the metal.

Chris, the little dings and dents in the wood could easily happen, the case colors will stay sharp as long is it is kept out of sunlight ,and artificial light. the wood dings can be made in a few minutes of careless handling.
