Ed didn't tell y'all all the story. The reason I was brought to tears was that on the way to our camphouse I had to drive right next to a barbed wire fence whereupon some barbarian had hung the poor lifeless bodies of some once proud, graceful, free roaming, coyotes.

It was just a horrible experience that Ed was spared by virtue of coming in on a different road. But I did manage to cowboy up and get some decent pictures of the prairie dogs.

Cute little fellers, I could watch 'em all day :

Oh.. as far as what I'm bringing, I'll have my current knitting project, of course, and.... are there any trees where I can hang my quilting frames?

I suppose this would be a good time to defend my reputation against financial slurs from the jealous ragpicking chillins. These detractors all reside in way-too-hot areas that cause varying amounts of irreversible brain damage. Cheap indeed...how dare you...

Other than not having to deal with the Valley Boys, I am sorry I will not be attending this show. Looks like there will be many new faces - folks I would really like to meet. New friends always have new bee ess stories to listen to.

I am sure you newcomers will thoroughly enjoy watching Kent and Tommy do their well-rehearsed Macarena, at least the first five or six times they perform it. It gets really old as the evening wears on, even when they change costumes and make-up.

Hoping you newcomers have a fine weekend...and I also hope the rest of you twinks can find someone else to be the butt of your jokes.

Cheers, Joe

Miles - scuttlebutt now has it that some guy from Show Low sneaked over there and poked a hole in your air mattress with that sharp end of his .

Ken Howell,

Don't have curdog4570, or anyone else, sent me emails at your request because I have you on ignore.

There is a reason I have you on ignore, I don't give a flying [bleep] what you have to say or think, so please stop having others try to contact me for you.

I'm thinking we could all bivouac at Joe's for one night...

Blunt the knives bend the forks! Smash the bottles and burn the corks! Chip the glasses and crack the plates! That's what DARBY hates...

Miles, that jug of MM loosened the tongues of many attendees at the Sierra Vista get-together in January. As if that was needed.

Bet you'll bring taller boots to Quemado this year. Nothing personal, but you are somewhat out of your league amongst that crew.

When my big blue book (Designing and Forming Custom Cartridges) went out of print several years ago, it was soon rated "rare," and used-book prices soared to the insanely ridiculous price of $800 a copy.

It was never worth even a significant fraction of that much, so I gave it my friends at www.huntingtons.com to be republished.

It's available there (item 4999) for $59.98.

If you bring a copy to Quemado, I'll sign it to you then you won't be able to return it to get your money back. smile

Joe ("DARBY") isn't gonna be here, but he's still "Chancellor of the Exchequer" for the fellowship fund.

So if you have a few spare shekelim, drop 'em in a bucket, a boot, a jar, or something at the shindig (or send 'em to Joe) so that we who cherish the company of our far-off buddies can help 'em to get here.

This summer's bash promises, so far, to be the best ever with more ladies, more kids, plus horseback-riding and bird-watching. My ol' blood pump is full already.

And the likelihood that we'll have good weather (and plenty of elk and other good photo grist to help us remember all the good memories that we'd never forget anyway).

Still, my heart hangs low with the longing that so many of our fellows who ought to be here won't be.

Therefore two notions for y'all to contemplate 'n' ponder

A moment of silence for those absentees who'd add so much to our gathering and get so much from it

A special effort to get, every year, at least one of our across-the-big-moat buddies over here for some good ol' 'Merican fellowship

Who is worried? Come to think of it, Sawmill Canyon is only about 2 miles away - probably not far enough.
