You'll be diggin in your pockets when he tells you what the Edge stocked Tikka weighs....... Ok, how much does it weigh? I have an Edge on order for mine and am curious. Thanks. Extra low Milled Talleys, Leupold 3.5X10X40, Edge Sako Classic LOP 13.125" = 6 lbs 9 ozs in 30-06 sprg Edge by itself....24.2 ozs

Great shooting rifle, but I am not surprised in that I've never owned a 708 that wouldn't shoot like that. I've always gotten great results with Big Game and RL15 in that cartridge.

Is there enough room for buttler creek flip-ups or alumina caps and hows the bolt handle clearance (does it rub)?
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Bolt clears fine , Butler Creek caps will not fit, Aluma covers fit and work great

yukon......how the heck are you buddy? Since I'm getting older and becoming more of a big puzzy I decided that I'd settle for a moderate recoil load around 2800fps and that's where the 45.5 landed. Don't feel all alone. The new 708 I'm building this week gets a Muscle Brake. I shoot WAY too much to put up with that crap. And in my opinion...2800 in a 708 is near perfect. Clear a spot on your calendar for me in Jan...
I should have just bought a [bleep] T3...

I have a 'smith right here that builds 1000 yard BR rifles. He's been taking my money. I'm taking all the parts for one more, and 2 actions up there tomorrow.
I have a Kreiger in a .284 that just hammers, another one that passes inspection, and I'm giving him a Lilja tomorrow. A shilen in the safe, and another Kreiger in a month.
I'm liking Kreiger, Lilja, and Brux right now.
I'll pray for rain for ya...

Al, are you using standard Tikka mags to feed that 284? If so, standard or magnum? Just wondering if the fat case is a problem in a standard mag.
Thanks
