one of my former students had one. He was in a climbing stand and got all twisted around trying to get a shot at a nice buck. Didn't hang on to the little .500 tight enough. It kissed him right over the eye and the blood flew. Had 2 blood trails for a little ways as he tracked the buck. He texted me and ask if I wanted it CHEAP.

I was thinking a ghost ring peep sight instead of a scope. I have shot the 460 s&w handgun (ported) and found the recoil mild and manageable. Too many people want to scope everything these days. I like the K.I.S.S. PHILOSOPHY. LOL For a thicket gun with shots under 50-75 yds. Why would you need a scope? Hunt thick for bucks in this neck of the woods.

Only way I would put a scope on a brush gun would be for someone like my dad who has vision issues. It jus happens to be that things blurr real bad at 18-22" out making focusing on the sight a real pain. Solution; red dot sight.

The young man was KISS. He can't use an open sight nor a receiver sight. Everybody can't be perfect...

Sorry if I offended you in any way. That was not my intent. I am confused by your response..... I looked at your profile and you say nothing of teaching special needs or handicapped people.....Very confusing to me......

I teach Metal Trades. I take girls, boys, blacks, whites, browns, SPEDs, handicapped and 4.0s. I don't turn any away, just try to teach them. The young man made a great welder, just had to use a strong cheater lens in his welding hood...

I always keep one of my T/C's set up witha 35Rem, peep sighted barrel. I think it is lighter than the NEf/H&R rifles.
Powerful, light recoil, and easy to carry. it is a good ranch rifle.

Why?
I've seen .357Mag/Max barrels rechambered to 356/358, so can't see why a .357Mag/Max barrel couldn't be easily/safely to 35 Rem. Particularly when the barrel is from a break-action single-shot H&R.

Here's a picture borrowed from another site. For anyone living in Canada around Ellwood Epps, they've got 5 of the Mossy Oak 35 Rems and 3 wooden stocked 35 Whelens for sale.

Our local shop just got in a bunch of these camo stocked distributor special NEF's. Two were 45-70, two were 35 Rem and three were 35 Whelen. The finish seemed fair at best for a new rifle. Going price was $299. The 35 Rem sounds fun, but I have to many other toys that don't get used enough.

Academy in Baton Rouge,LA. has some H&R's in 35 Rem with the camo stock. I was at the Academy in Hammond,LA. yesterday and saw they had the CVA Scout/Hunter singleshot rifles in 35 Rem. I have a H&R 35 Rem rifle with camo stock that originally came with in a 2 barrel set with a 444 barrel also. Mine is very accurate and you can shoot Super 35 loads in it. I had one in 35 Whelen and it shot great but recoil would get your attention and now I like the 35 Rem better. I bought a CVA Scout rifle in 44 mag at the Hammond store last night. They have the hunter version of this made for Academy in 243 and 7mm-08 youth rifles also. The 35 Rem Scout rifle came with a Konus 3-9x40 scope for $299. I got the Scout 44 magnum without scope for $209.

I got this .35Rem barrel factory new on my G2 it is 18". I love my T/C's as Carbines, or in the case of my 28 Gauge, as shotguns.
