I've seen some pretty fumb duckers break there stock before but it takes a fumber ducker to think that it is the fault of the stock rather than the fumb ducker who broke it.

For a 7mm08 there is no question I would go with the Rem 700 SS mountain rifle, perfect for those long hikes, my buddies new EW would shoot patterns with everthing he fed it and had to be sent back to be fixed...and they wouldn't tell him what they did to fix it it shoots pretty good now but nothing special!

It's funny that the ergos of the B&C EW stocks are so much worse than the B&C MR/Ti stocks.

The B&C Mt rifle stock is only slightly trimmer, and only because it has no aluminum bedding block. It is a weak stock that is easily broken. The EW stock is a bit thicker and heavier, but has strength. I would have to replace either.

A busted B&C stock. The owner didn't drop it, just shot it and the recoil busted the stock. I prefer the Edge, but would much rather have the factory EW over the Mt rifle stock even if it weighs more and is a little thicker. If you really want the lightest rifle, at the least cost, buy the Kimber.

What's the story with that stock JMR?

I know sleds are hard on scopes, and can affect POI but I wouldn't expect my stock to completely fail.

did you really imagine a different outcome?

having owned both provides insight. but people with neither will still argue

that's not a bad thing. just how it is. it is entertainment.

Lead Sled is a pretty good indication you bought the wrong gun, have a vagina, or just can't friggin shoot.

Maybe all three......

Maybe we need to discuss stock construction.

How do the B&C, Edge, and Kimber Montanas compare in terms of materials and construction? Manners has a new carbon fiber shell too.

M70EW plus an EDGE every time, (want to try a kimber one day)

The balance is perfect, weight forward, very steady offhand.

The M70 Winchester has much better features.

They include:

1. CRF control round feeding that reduces the chances of a jam.
2. The three position M70 safety that controls the firing pin.

Ruger 77's and Kimbers do also.

I've never completely understood 'em ... seems like the sled would take all of the fun out of shooting.

They can be handy when teaching women or children that may be recoil sensitive.

Other than that, I don't see a need for one.

Nice!

This setup in a 7mm-08 would be awesome, also.
