Looking for some input on whether most folks prefer black rings or stainless rings when mounting a black scope on a stainless rifle??
I have a Win 70 stainless and will be using Talley QD rings and bases (which are stainless and not nickel finish, so I think they will match well...). The rifle does have black fixed sites as well also.
I've had Ruger 77s before with the stainless rings that I did not think twice about mounting a black scope in, but it seems that most non-ruger stainless rifles I see go all black.
I'm leaning towards all stainless for the weather resistance aspect but don't want a "bling factor"

Trying to match stainless finishes is a lesson in futility, and may end in a 50 Shades of Grey scenario.

I've had both silver and black and both look ok. I cannot stand a silver scope though.

Black. I had both and much perfer black. It seems to disappear into the scope and looks more streamline. The shadows under the scope are also dark and the black disappears. This might help. See how the bottom of the Talley mounts kinda dispeer into the SS.

I like one black ring, one silver ring. Typically I put the black ring in the back, but you can adjust as needed.

One black, one silver, Nice touch... Here is a pic I found online that shows the talley QD setup I am considering (albeit mounted on a Kimber...) I do see the point about the black setup blending in better. One concern I have is the talley QD steel rings have sort of a dull blue finish and not a true matte black, so wont be a perfect match on a black scope either.. Thanks for all the opinions

I like one black ring, one silver ring. Typically I put the black ring in the back, but you can adjust as needed. Nothing makes more sense than this...seriously. I put strong rings between a good rifle and a good scope, and don't worry about the rest. There's a lot of ugly rings out there which are perfectly color coordinated, but still ugly. Other things matter more IMO.

I don't understand any silver colored scope and/or rings. What's the point? Looks like crap!!! Mat-black rings AND scope. No problemo. Bear in Fairbanks

I have several stainless rifles and all wear black scopes and black rings. I really do not care for silver rings on a black scope. I do not mind a silver scope-just don't want black rings on it.

Can't stand silver scopes or rings. For one thing every rifle, scope and mount maker seems to make their products in a different silver finish. You rarely get them to match. Black always looks good.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
