Ive been seeing a lot of 2wd chevy's with Z-71 stickers lately, I think they are coming from the factory that way now. You're right. I just got done with a little research, and found that it's the suspension and locking differential option available on 2 wheel drives. So the stickers are legit.

I've driven Chevys since 1959 and have never had a moments problem with any of them. Currently, I'm driving a 2010 CC/SB LTZ 4X4 Z-71 with every possible option and it may just be the finest truck I've ever owned. Good luck with yours, not that you need it ... you now own a fine rig. This is my run around every day bomber. I have a loaded 4X4 extended cab Z71 Colorado for my get outta Dodge vehicle. The two truck will have watch duty over my "73" Z-28. My Chevy blood has always run deep.....

Z71 on a 2wd?
That's like putting Z28 on a 4 cylinder Camaro.
GM has gone full retard. Obviously the marketing department now runs the manufacturer.

Its all right to be white!! Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience

Yup--I've seen a lot of snow plowed with a 2-wheel drive truck with weight in the back. A LOT!

I have a 2001 Chevy 2500 HD. This is the 14th year I've been plowing with it. It's getting a workout this year, but just keeps going.
When it finally dies, my company will buy me a new one, but this is turning into the best investment my co. ever made.

Plastic bumpers for when the going gets tough Fluckkin' right, that's why I wanted the Work truck. Unlike some that spend all their time on the innerweb, I actually get out and do schitt. This is where I do most of my shooting at LR. By mid-summer it's a field of thistles, so I like the cheap ass plastic up front to plow through with:

Nice looking truck for a Chevy.

I still love regular cab trucks.
They're like hammers. Simple and effective.
Plus they look better. I second that. I have a 4 door and all it does is accumulate more crap. I have to have a four door or I couldn't haul my whole clan. O yeah, nice truck hope you enjoy it.

Actually I have a set of BFG T/K KO's coming for the rear. As long as it's dry, I can get to my spot in TWD, even though I have to cross a creek, cross a frame twister ditch, and crawl the hill to the top. It's a cattle pasture too, so the truck tends to smell like cowshitt most of the time....

Free markets only work if there is a downside to a bad investment. The gov't didn't do anyone any favors in the long run when they saved GM. As you point out, there were 2 other major car companies that'd have bought parts from those suppliers and it's highly doubtful that GM would have simply disappeared if the normal chain of events had continued.
Gov't involvement in markets is BAD. Allowing dirtbags like those in Washington to chose winners and losers is BAD.
Disincenting careful inspection of potential investments through gov't saving people from losses is BAD.
It is highly likely that this truck and the parts suppliers all would still be here had Obama not stepped in. The fact that "conservatives" defend his intervention speaks clearly to the sad state of so-called "conservatism" in this country.
