Old lady had two pet rabbits that both expired during the night. She took them to a taxidermist and said that she wanted them stuffed. He, meaning to correct her, said, "You mean that you want them mounted." She replied, "No, just side-by-side will be all right."

if i could sneak into a buddies house and take a pic i'd show you guys the worst whitetail mount on earth.some idiot mounted it for 200.00 in 20 minutes i think.
I'm a taxidermist and I think you are right on all counts. But to sum it up..I guess "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"..the taxidermist and mom's and dad's do a lot of holding.
When many hunters are choosing a taxidermist the only consideration is price. Quality taxidermy is not cheap. The best taxidermist use best quality forms, eyes, mouths, etc, & the best of tanneries. You get what you pay for. Most deer hunters I have hunted with in Virginia & NC end up using some back woods taxidermist that uses dry tanning & cheap forms.

I was in Bass Pro Shop in the Orlando area recently and was surprised at the horrible quality of the taxidermy on display. I realize a lot of that stuff is donated but you'd think they'd be a little more selective about what they put on display. Cabela's wildlife displays on the other hand are top notch, probably because they're not donated.
I like taxidermy that gives you a bit of insight into the animal's personality. This bear was likely the life of the party, right up until he got killed.
