I'd love to have one of these in 7x57. The original Mauser...it's causing a lot of lust.

Nice rifle but I would commision a build before paying what they want for one of those.

They say the 7x57 is a little short to fill a 98.

Note that your link shows the 7mm they chamber to be a 7X64!

True, but there is no reason it has to be your own.

As my FIL used to say, "If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it."

I guess the lack of a quoted price is not a good sign for most of us...

No problem, they're not doing me any good anyway. Yep, lack of a price list is of most concern. Not even a "Price available upon request". Surely it wouldn't be as much or more than a Cooper.

It even has the Rigby aperture sight on the bolt. Very cool. If you want to see what the comparable Wesley Richards would cost, just go to the WR site, click on "Build Your Own", and go from there. The basic WR (98 Mauser) is 16,500 pounds. That's about $27,715 at today's exchange rate. And you can begin to add on from there. A tad more than a Cooper, but I expect Ingwe will have to get one chambered in .275 Rigby some day. It'd make a heck of a pig gun, and he could even use the same ammo that he uses in his Fwt. Don't know your financial situation, but for ordinary folks, a good look at the price tag on that little gem will cool you down in a hurry.

A little bit of lurking on Gunbroker might yield a very nice FN deluxe sporter for probably a third or less of what that one would cost you. I don't recall any 7X57s lately, but .270s, '06s, and even .257s show up pretty often. If you squint your eyes a little, the .270 might pass for a 7mm.

Yeah, looking at that site cools me down quite a bit.

I'm more in the "build it yourself" class, although I've traded for some pretty nice guns over the years.

Here's my version of a '98 Mauser, a '50's vintage FN action fitted with a 23" Shilen #2 in a B&C Medalist. That's about where I stand on the '98 Mauser deal. May have to let the high end one pass...

I have less than $1,200 in this gun, a 6.5x55. I'm pretty sure $1,200 wouldn't make a down payment on the "real deal" Mauser '98.
