If you order a batch with "I'm with uber stupid" is that the same as saying "I'm with Obama?" That's racist. Travis

Got one the other day for one of our newest Eagle Scouts, as a present for making Eagle and Graduation present...
my first impression of the rifle, particularly the stock... it should be called the Ruger Mexican, instead of the Ruger American...
but so far it has shot fairly well...

Travis; I hope this finds you and yours well on this wet and stormy night - not to be confused with a dark and stormy night.....
Somehow because of all the Campfire coolaid being spread about the Ruger Americans I've ended up with one.
I should add the standard Canuck pricing and availability complaint here in that I found all of 3 dealers with one chambered in .223 in stock up here - just the plain vanilla RAR too, no shorty, no Predator.
Anyway, I've got a fair bit - 3lb maybe? - of WC845, and a fresh can each of Varget and RL15 along with enough small rifle primers and cleaned up once fired military cases to load something.
I've got a couple hundred 60gr HP that I was going to start with and intend to see if anyone up here has anything heavier, but am not holding my breath.
Anyway Travis, if you or anyone has any suggested loads for the ber RAR with the powders I've got I'd love to hear them.
Thanks in advance and happy ber Thursday to you and yours too.
Dwayne

Dwayne man!
Sorry to hear you're still stuck in Canada. With any luck I'll win the next election and you'll all end up part of the US regardless.
I'm thinking 26.0 grains of Vargay should be a good start (and possibly stop) point for your 60 grainers. Save the RL 15 for something non-peasant.
I'm only going to cruise the low-income areas of wildlife with this rifle. I don't want to kill anything high brow with the clunker.
See you in church, Travis

Travis; Thanks for the load suggestions, I'll give it a whirl for sure and see how it does. I've shot a bit of the WC845 in the .30-30 so I know it burns and all that, so I'll try some of that over the chronograph with the 60 grainers too. There are somewhere ensconced in my reloading room shelves, a box of 60gr Partusions and some sort of TSX's too - 53's I'd say without looking right now. They might be tried out too just because. Mainly I picked this thing up to shoot at far away rocks and to have a cheap to shoot/light recoiling/fun rifle for new shooters to try out. I've got an ancient 1:14 .22-250AI with a 26" #4 Douglas Premium match barrel that shoots quite well, but a lot of new shooters find it's way to heavy for them and well frankly it is a pretty heavy coyote rifle all things considered. On the low-income wildlife hunt though you've got me thinking as our family tries to shoot at least one "really local" mulie buck every fall. Since I had to pay more for the rifle up here across the medicine line, do you think it'd be OK using a clunker in a sort of middle class/blue collar farming/vineyard sort of neighborhood? Any suggestions on where I might search out the complete rules on the 'net? Being a Canuck I don't want to offend anyone - naturally - and of course I'm sorry if I have.... As always I'll save you a seat near the back Travis. Dwayne

I think if Flave Precision provided their services for "chopping" the .223 RAR down to a shawty, you would no longer think it was a clunker, but suddenly a sexy beast. youd need to ship a 12 pack with it though to be drankened prior to the beholder eyeballing it. i promise youll think the shawty is hot after youre drunk.

n8dawg6; I do believe you're correct sir, but sadly Flave hasn't been elected President yet and that invisible, yet omnipotent medicine line keeps me from sending either clunkers or beer over to Havre. The other thing that might prevent it is that our eldest daughter seems to think it might be hers - if I can get it to shoot OK first. Kids, eh? All the best to you for the remainder of the week sir - may it be an ber one indeed. Dwayne

n8dawg6,
If Flave Precision opens a Canadian branch office, it should be stocked with Kokanee instead of Molson, in keeping with its peasant business model.

I think Flave Precision could use an experienced and talented Rattle Can Technician and Ballistician
I shall prepare my resume' and get out my pocket calculator and bottle opener.
